Indeed; I don’t think anyone could describe the victims in Sims’ yard as being “worked on”!!Many thanks. Must be a more delicate process than Sims then.

Absolutely. They're a bit too brutal for my tastes, but I suppose it's equally upsetting seeing locos slowly taken to bits.Indeed; I don’t think anyone could describe the victims in Sims’ yard as being “worked on”!!![]()

May be a bit late but 43185 (body) was complete last Wednesday evening. Next to it was the shell of another power car (assumed 43030) laying on its side.Absolutely. They're a bit too brutal for my tastes, but I suppose it's equally upsetting seeing locos slowly taken to bits.
Too late to buy it as a shed?May be a bit late but 43185 (body) was complete last Wednesday evening. Next to it was the shell of another power car (assumed 43030) laying on its side.
Has a cab ever been a donated part for another unit? The cab of 43185 was noted on a lowloader on the M74 near Uddingston this afternoon

43185 cab on lorry
Captured on the M74 motorway in Uddingston is the cab section of Intercity liveried HST powercar 43185 on the back of a low loader. 43185 was a parts donor at Haymarket depot in Edinburgh for ScotRail for several years and a few weeks ago passed to a scrapyard in Ayrshire. It would seem the...flic.kr
Could it be going to the Cab Yard in Wales? The cab of 43185 was noted on a lowloader on the M74 near Uddingston this afternoon

If you mean, have cabs been swapped between power cars before, then yes.Has a cab ever been a donated part for another unit?
Probably needed in Mexico! The cab of 43185 was noted on a lowloader on the M74 near Uddingston this afternoon

I'd be surprised, I think they already have 43049s cab that was originally in the NRM. (Also in Swallow)Could it be going to the Cab Yard in Wales?
Going OT for a moment - 43049 had unique "LNER shaded" cab numbers; both when it carried original InterCity and also Swallow.I'd be surprised, I think they already have 43049s cab that was originally in the NRM. (Also in Swallow)
Find me another?? This is the real deal! Imagine owning this one in a kind unit with a great history in service and a superb story £24000 Class 43 HST power car shell for sale, has had front end nose cone damage! Fantastic for an enthusiast or a group or even to convert into an Air bnb Even in its current form it emotes memories about these in service Now image owning it! We’re looking for offers in the region of £24,000 To be aware we can at cost mount this on mark 3 bogies to represent the actual bogies, and therefore look the part! For more information please ring (number) Business hours preferred Thank you
The listing used to state £1 not an auction, with £24k in the description. Ebay have now removed as it does not meet their listing rules, ie the seller was trying to avoid Ebay feesWill that cause the seller a problem if the auction ends with a highest bid that's less than £24k?
If I won the lottery...Back up on eBay with the same link, now with no mention to £24,000 in the description.
The distinctive bit - the front end - is absolutely mangled, I can’t see how on earth that’s fetching £2,400 let alone £24k! And that’s without the removal costs. The attached photo (found on Google, not mine) shows the state it’s in. Realistically it’s surely worth scrap value, and a 43 is only 70 tons when complete with bogies, which this one is lacking!£24000 seems quite an asking price? Esp given the condition of it externally and internally, vs Mk3s that are far cheaper and far more complete
Someone here will know better - so do correct if am wrong
100% what I'm thinking, I hope someone saves it but at such a price you'd just want to save your coppers and buy one of the poorly ones at Ely.The distinctive bit - the front end - is absolutely mangled, I can’t see how on earth that’s fetching £2,400 let alone £24k! The attached photo (found on Google, not mine) shows the state it’s in. This reminds me of the battered ex-Isle of Wight tube carriage that someone wanted an equally silly amount for.
Attached image shows 43300 sat in what I believe is its current location, minus bogies and with a heavily damaged front end.
Owned by Romic, with many of the vehicles now at the Mid-Norfolk.Does anyone know what's happening with the HSTs at Yarmouth? As I understand it they're not for export...if not then what? Who owns them?
That's understandable. Wonder what state the powercars are in now, maybe moved from Ely for better storage options?Anyone who does know probably isn’t going to tell you - it’ll be commercially confidential.
I would have thought that they would be more likely to corrode quickly in the maritime atmosphere of Great Yarmouth. That's understandable. Wonder what state the powercars are in now, maybe moved from Ely for better storage options?
A shed is being built at the Yarmouth site to provide covered protection long termI would have thought that they would be more likely to corrode quickly in the maritime atmosphere of Great Yarmouth.
100% but how much work would that take? They were all shipped by road afaik. (At least the LNER ones that are there atm)What they need is to get out and get some mileage.
shed or no shed they won’t be much use if they don’t get moved.
Some are, some aren't. Some are being broken up for spares there - or being shipped to Mexico / Nigeria as non running spares donors.I presume they are going to be battered back into shape if they are being stored there? There’s plenty of spare capacity to run them around the Norfolk branches to keep the wheels moving. I seem to recall an ex XC set had a little excursion to Norwich last year. If they aren’t for Mexico and they aren’t being made fit to work again what exactly is the point of them being there?
