All three are Romic power cars.
Indeed, but given the condition 112 / 312 is in, there’s no guarantee yet it will make it to export and could end up like 006 / 306.

Either way, the Craigentinny Filler was looking rather crispy on it in a lot of photos of Sunday’s move.

Yes, 312‘s cab is not in a good state. Looks like it may have had a minor bump.

37501 + 37884 have moved 43017/020 + 43174/191 from Ely Papworth to the Mid Norfolk Railway today. Meanwhile, 43162 has been taken by road to Burton joining those moved there last week.

Two Power Cars from the Mid Norfolk are then expected to be moved to Burton. All owned by Romic.

I believe that todays move is 43174/191 to be dropped at the Mid-Norfolk and 017 and 020 to head up to Burton

The Cross Country HSTs and off lease Castle HSTs were the only ones that could/should have found alternative use in the UK because of their sliding doors and accessible to all toilets. Whatever your view on slam doors and so on is they were banned for anything other than charter operations. But, to send away sliding door stock which as I understand it was in very good condition is just scandalous.

Slam door rolling stock is not barred for anything than charter operations, the Paddington to Penzance overnight service still has slam doors!

With a stringent method of working - don't the staff have to open and close the doors? This might work on the sleeper because most of the carriages have low occupancy, and they will know where people in the berths are getting off. Wouldn't work with a standard daytime passenger train.

Any company wanting to use slam-door stock now would have to get a derogation for it, and that's unlikely to be granted to anyone other than a charter operator.

Once unlocked the passengers can open and close the doors themselves. The guard then checks the doors and windows are fully closed before locking them prior to departure. In Cornwall the train has two guards to assist with the doors and dispatch.

So whether slam doors are banned or not is rather immaterial, they aren’t going to be used on regular services again.

My original point is that the HSTs which had been converted to sliding door stock could have been used by many TOCs in the UK. It’s all a bit irrelevant now, but still it’s a shame that when the railway is struggling for stock we are exporting decent stock.

Upon arrival at Penzance, the staff tend to get there, and have the door open before I can even try! Maybe I need to set the alarm earlier :) , it's not as if I don't know how to open a Mk 3 slam door :) In reality, my cabin is more comfortable than the corridor or the vestibule!

It’s good customer service to see you off the train but they’re not always there at intermediate stations as they are waking people up.

The struggle is real, the ability to utilise the stock that’s sitting around waiting for scrappage is where the problem lies.

The issue is more that the railway is a financial basket case and it is very difficult to justify further subsidy for more stock on top of the already obscene amounts of taxpayer support.

And because there will be people who won't know how to open a slam door

Too many incompatible small fleets - and we're building even more to become problems in 10/20/30 years time.

Say what we like about 43s and HSTs they've served us well through 5 decades. From Penzance to Inverness they've seen off numerous operators.
Photos on Internet...

Yes, but are any taken in 2025?

Coincidentally, a thread opened this week, with 2 photos of Mexico examples in use:

From the Class 175 to GWR discussion

Considering that the remaining GWR Class 43s are owned by First Group, rather than Angel Trains, is it confirmed that First Group will be selling on their HSTs thereafter?
Seems to very much be already in progress, for example from the recent moves:

43153 - FRH
43160 - GWR
43162 - GWR
43194 - FRH

All now part of the ever growing ROMIC export fleet.

Not this again about HST ownership. A fair chunk of the remaining GWR fleet is owned by Angel.

There appears to be 5 power cars on the move to the Mid-Norfolk Railway for export today. 43312 and 43319 are now wearing a grey primer livery but the other 3 seem to be in GWR Green still (not sure on the numbers of these though)
