What are the usual times and routes for movements of Class 701 transfers? I think it would usually travel on the South Western Main Line via Farnborough, but unsure of times

The four units delivered to date have come, on average, once a fortnight. is that likely to be the approximate pattern now for the remaining 56 701/s?

60 x 10 car, and 30 x 5 car, 90 units total. I’m sure they’re supposed to get the deliveries up to at least weekly, should be more.

But in January, a Modern Railways article reported (#1261) that it was a one year delivery programme. More recently it was tweeted by Rail (#1708) that it was a two year programme. I guess we’ll see...

Some runs as required services to Dorking tomorrow with the 5Q headcode, are these 701s?

There are several 5Q diagrams dotted around the network, including two that have been put in for this tues/weds (11th/12th) only. Up the main from Eastleigh, then one is a couple of Dorking runs and back to Eastleigh down the main, and the other is a couple of rounders then back to Eastleigh via staines etc. Guessing they'll just run one or the other. Or neither, who knows.

Neither today atm, both diagrams activated but none running.
Edit: Dorking diagram is now running, 23 mins late.

Just seen a video which seems to suggest the 701s have a whistle rather than a horn (or rather a recording of a whistle rather than a horn) which seems slightly odd; is this correct?

Depot whistle? 377s have that as well as a horn.

Possibly, though this was in a station... take a listen to this video from two and a half minutes in:

Late at night and the neighbours didn't want 120dB?

I work next to a station and have heard 377s using their whistle there.
