On a train stuck south of Thirsk, apparently the train ahead of us has hit something. No idea what.

Anyone know what train hit the obstruction? Is it 1S51 (12:27 Plymouth to Glasgow Cross Country Service)? That’s the one ahead of 1S25.

Reported by the Guard on a northbound train that an animal has been hit incapacitating that train. Single line working to be introduced.

I would imagine either 1P33 15:54 Liverpool St - Newcastle (802216) or 1E23 16:30 Edinburgh to Kings Cross (801209) has since they're both North of Northallerton.

Why 1E25 running wrong line near Durham, maybe related?

Also, 1E24 (17:00 Edinburgh - Kings Cross) is being held at Darlington, currently about 75 down.

Both trains involved, both sustained damage including broken windows.

Fitter apparently on site to assess 1P33 with bidirectional working planned Northallerton to East Cowton when things start moving.

Sounds like 1P33 hit the animal then 1E23 went into the resultant debris.

Sounds major! Is that drivers windscreens or passenger windows?

Given the scale, guessing it was a cow? Lots of farmland around the area I think.

Several windows on the TPE (carriage windows) and one or two passenger windows on the LNER.

Both have faults and damage to units, fitter is on site at TpE unit.

Potentially a deer, no evidence of an animal being found, but blood and fur on unit, and confirmed as animal blood.

Seen 1E23 (the aforementioned LNER unit) now has a green signal. Has that been cleared to move to Northallerton?

(For mods - Link and Screenshot are of a signalling map showing the aforementioned green signal in front of the aforementioned LNER service)

1E23 will terminate at Northallerton, passengers collected by 1E24.

Sorry it should read IS23
No one has ever said 1S23 was damaged!

1S51 is going to perform a train to train evacuation for customers off 1P33. Once complete bi-directional working will be implemented.

I'd be quite surprised if 1S23 was damaged given it's in Glasgow right now.

Fortunately 1S51 is a rare CrossCountry 9 car, so hopefully it should fit everyone from 1P33 nicely.

250 aboard 1P33 so apparently this could take a wee while...

1S51 needs to get back up to Newcastle then turn around and become a very late 1M00 1940 from Newcastle back down to Derby (or Sheffield - depending on delay).

How do passengers get between the trains? Will 1S51 have ladders or something? and then they climb off the TPE onto the ballast, then climb into the XC?

They will have ramps (basically a bridge) placed between trains, customers walk across assisted by NWR staff. They do this all through one door only.

It’s a very simple process, a level board between trains, with barriers on each side. With multiple staff stood there to assist.

A service towards Yarm, it’s turning off on to the branch line.

Looks like trains are starting to be sent North from York and South from Newcastle.
Also I can see on Traksy LBLK (Presumably Line Block) has shown up in the block for Northallerton Platform 1

Are they able to move the TPE? Or single line working Past it?
