Recently bought a Euro High Saver (CIV) from LNE to a provincial station from this forum's ticket office/Trainsplit, and was surprised when I picked it up from the machine (credit card format ticket) to see that it showed validity as "From [date I booked it for] until [3 2 months later].

I was under the impression that these tickets are only valid on day of connection with the Eurostar, or within 24 hours before or after, depending on whether it's an inward or outward journey. Am I reading it right that I could use this ticket to go to/from London at any time within 3 months of my Eurostar connection? And could I build in a break of journey of one or more days? I've no idea where to get this information, brfares.com doesn't help, and it's pointless asking my local ticket office since they'd never heard of CIV, never mind LNE or Euro High Savers.

TIA

[edited to correct 3 months to 2 months]

Return travel from London must commence on the day or the next day that the return travel from the Continent has taken place day, as shown by the passenger's ticket between the Continent and London, and all travel must be completed by 2 months from the date of outward travel.

Thanks Adam. That's pretty much as I had in my head - do you mind saying where you quoted from?

The travel completed within 2 months is interesting, seeing as a) according to brfares.com the Euro High SVR only comes in singles, and therefore, according to your quote, shall be completed within a day (ie far less than 2 months), and b) the ticket itself is showing a validity of 3 months.

I think that the extra validity is so that you may amend your international journey without penalty on the domestic leg. Or you may be disrupted over multiple days.

If the ticket is only issued as a single, any reference to the validity of a return journey can be ignored.

This is on the ticket’s Terms & Conditions.
Ah, of course, thanks. Should have thought of looking at the National Rail site. The conditions for the single ticket (https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ticket-types/tickets/evs/) don't seem particularly helpful, in fact seem frankly sloppy:

These tickets must be used within 2 calendar months of the date of the ticket, however as they are normally associated with pre-booked services customers who wish to change their travel plans must arrange for the ticket to be re-issued at the point of purchase with a new date of travel. Tickets are valid until 04:29 in the early morning after the last day of validity, by which time all travel must be completed.
So if I have to rearrange my travel plans, I need to change the ticket, so why have 2 months validity?
And then:
Passengers may travel at any time but the outward portion must not be dated more than one day in advance of the passenger's ticket between London and the Continent.
Again, why 2 months validity if you can only date the ticket a day in advance of your ES ticket?

Basically it sounds like I should just ignore the temptations of a 2 month validity shown on the ticket and do as I have until now: book for the day (or the day before) travel on the Eurostar.
