Looks to eventually have moved to Crewe this morning
;

;
with 1V70 a dmu starting Crewe and set swops at Salop and Cardiff!

;

1w55

1W55 today , 22/07, has restarted from Crewe today after 197104 working the train delayed 102 minutes due to an "operational incident" at Craven Arms.
(for some reason keeps merging rather than replying - apologies to subscribers who are apparently getting notifications of my attempts to stop it)

67025 + HD02 now on the remainder of the diagram today, 12:30 Manc - Cardiff, 16:49 Cardiff - Manc & 20:30 Manc - Crewe.

Tuesday 23/07 and HD02 has decided once again that it would prefer to stay at Piccadilly rather than work, currently having issues departing with 1V50 16:30 to Swansea

Journey check says fully cancelled due to train fault, RTT still hasn't reported it as of now.

Unfortunately the train behind it is a 2 car 158. That’s going to be cosy, and rather exceptionally warm I’d of thought!
Looks like the 158 is covering for a 3 car 197. I hope the air con is working!

Quite a struggle for units by the look of it today.

I could almost promise you fully that it would not be working on the 158.

HD04 is running back the full diagram to Canton on 1V66 then 1V68 (Man - Crewe, Crewe - Cardiff) to fill in for HD02 failing, leaving 02 at Crewe for fixes and 05 ending there tonight. 04 will then fill in for the usual 0435 CDF - MAN and Holyhead diagram tomorrow. (from my knowledge!) Unsure about the Crewe starts tomorrow, HD05 may go onto either and I'm unsure if there's a spare set at Crewe.

It was impressive, it made it a couple of carriage lengths down the platform.

They managed to move it just in time for the 18:30 to get into Platform 5. Was glad I had not gone for the 16:30 today.

I'd planned the 1630 today Shrewsbury to Swansea, and ended up on the 1V97 Holyhead to Cardiff which runs before it from Shrewsbury. A pair of 153s!

HD02 is proving to have some terrible reliability at the moment, having different faults almost every time.

Today's was yet another dragging brake on the DVT, an issue which seems to be becoming increasingly common cause of failure across the fleet.

There were 6 available sets so a spare at both Canton and Crewe, it's a good job availability of both locos and sets is high as reliability in service these past couple of weeks has been pretty abysmal and seen regular use of spare rakes and mid-day loco swaps to keep the show on the road. It's what the spares are for but utilising them most days isn't really the plan

Are we expecting all 4 diagrams to be fully covered for the rest of this week?

Yes they should be barring failures. HD03 is on light exam for a couple of days but everything else is available.

02 isn't far off its heavy exam, the only set not done so far on the second cycle so maybe it'll be pulled early to get to the bottom of it's many issues while it won't be missed.

Desperately needs it. 02 seems to be working fine one day, fails the next. Too oddly consistent and doing that and can't last more than a few days. It needs to be the first one on the line for repairs or refurbishment in the future...

I wonder if its almost worth trying one of the spare DVTs that are at Landore, although they may need a little work too. Either that or shelve HD02 in favour of HD08.

With the amount of issues HD02 has it would seem to be worth looking at options for it, all the others have mostly had their issues ironed out whereas 02 seems to be collecting faults as it goes.

HD01/67012 has stayed in Holyhead this morning and 1V91 05:30 Holyhead - Cardiff was part cancelled and started from Chester with a 197. This leaves another diagram uncovered unfortunately unless a spare unless a set gets off canton for 1W57 at 10:52.

The 08:30 off Manchester was Mk4 today. So at least 1 set is out!

One of only two out today.

67008/HD06
06:27 Manchester Cardiff
12:49 Cardiff Manchester
16:30 Manchester Swansea

67010/HD07
04:35 Cardiff Manchester
08:30 Manchester Cardiff
17:14 Cardiff Holyhead*

*I can imagine this swapping later to avoid two sets ending in Holyhead overnight as HD01 is still there with 67012.

This is very poor isn't it. I thought that we were finally at a point where there were spares?

Sorry I’ve also missed 67015/HD04 which came out of Canton for 1W55

08:49 Cardiff Manchester
12:30 Manchester Cardiff
16:49 Cardiff Manchester
20:30 Manchester Crewe.

So only one missing now, but yes, still not great when there should’ve been near on full availability bar HD02s slip up

Only 1 of the 4 diagrams are uncovered and as said above, a spare set may well get used to cover it.

You need both a driver and a guard that are trained and happen to be available to prep the spare set.

RTT is showing 197108 covering for the MK4 on 1052 Cardiff to Manchester and 1430 return.

Just as well the 5th diagram hasnt yet switched to a MK4.
