Just noticed this on FCC's home page:

Anyone know anything further? Kings Cross LUL station is open, NRE doesn't seem to have anything, and the LDB seems to be showing trains arriving & departing, albeit late due to the weather.

And I've expected a fire at KGX specifically to make the news.

Any ideas? FCC's message seems to be a bit specific to be incorrect, TOC's, (at least, LU), are very cautious in using the word "fire", but they specifically state that a train has caught fire..?

TfL's website says:

CROSS NATIONAL RAIL STATION: Closed due to a fire alert. National Rail tickets are valid on London Underground by any reasonable route.

Alert/close fire maybe?

London Kings Cross. Huge crowds now being 'kettled' outside platform 9, 10, 11. Staff won't let crowds in. Barriers locked. Everyone calm.

Can confirm Kings Cross mainline shut due to fire alert - believe suburban platforms have now reopened via its own entrance...

Picked this up off Twitter:

Latest: AnthonyDay About to leave Kings Cross on the 22.00. Train on fire on adjacent platform. Station evacuated. We're waiting outside. It's snowing.

If anyone knows what is in the platform next to the 22.00, we can establish which service is involved.

Just heard on LBC radio it was an electrical cable that caught fire by the second carriage of an 8 carriage train.

Spoke to one of my colleagues who was there last night who said it was the buffet coach of one of the HST sets which caught fire hence the shutdown of the station, don't know how bad the damage was though.
