what are XCs Anglo Scottish Customes being advised to do? Im due to pick up the 06:32 Dundee Plymouth tomorrow at Waverley but assuming that train woant run. XCs info has been poor and am nowhere near a station today therefore cant ask.

XC can use Virgin services between Edinburgh and Birmingham, where you can connect to XC services, that's if disruption continues tomorrow though. XC can also use TPE, East Coast and Grand Central services.

Exeter - Tiverton Parkway may re-open at 16:00 today depending on what Network Rail say. However delays in the area will continue until approximately the 8th of December such is the damage that has been caused.

It seems the 1503 Ply to Pad is running and has just left Newton Abbot. Perhaps the first one through?

Whats the likelihood of the 1729 Maidenhead - Paddington stopping at Maidenhead today?

Yes, the line has indeed now re-opened. This will be the first train through on the up, with the 14:06 to Penzance on the down.

Yes - I saw it go past my window and hasn't come back on the 16:20 Exeter - Penzance (14:06 PAD-PNZ if it had started at Exeter)

LDB is suggesting that the 14:06 Pad - Penzance went through Cowley Bridge, 8 late at Tiverton Parkway, expected 14 late at Exeter.

These look to be the first two to go through the area according to Live Departure boards, but they do have a habit of showing complete and utter rubbish!

EDIT: Beaten to it!

Both services running through temporary block working conditions though - looks like it'll be like this for another good few days at the earliest.

Landslip at Teignmouth should also be clear by now too. There's a nice moon over the Exe Estuary right now too.

Surprisingly, the services in my area have been relatively unaffected by the flooding, however there has been some major flooding in Worcester. Below are some pictures I took yesterday from my locker room at school in the dreary weather: the river has covered our games fields (other side of river) up to the houses in St. Johns which are nearly a kilometre away, and also New Rd. Cricket ground (visible in two of the images). This is the largest expanse of flooding that most of us have ever seen at my school.

Anybody know how the diversions @ STJ will be done?
Since the station remodelling, its not possible to reverse in the station, so are trains reversing on the main line, or are they reversing at Newport?
Sam :D
As has been mentioned in other threads, trains reverse at a signal (NT1730 from memory) located on the down relief line west of the station. A walkway has been constructed so an HST driver can change ends, which last time I saw it was already becoming overgrown.

Is there a reason why the HST driver cannot walk through the power car?

East Coast Closed at York - Newcastle. Website says no trains to run that stretch today. I have no choice but to go to york tonight at 2000 ex KGX. will the road me to durham or will I be abandoned in york? Any ideas help much appreciated from a very stressed person.

I didn't go up for once but one of my fellow London Branch members who was going to Sunderland-QPR text me yesterday saying the 11:23 Grand Central had been cancelled due to a landslide at Hartlepool,he was put on East Coast and the train was rammed solid but he left KGX at 11:30 and arrived into Newcastle around 15:15. Coming back today GC did run but missed out Hartlepool and went via Newcastle.

No doubt there are drivers on here who can answer that one better than me!

Now travelling on 1M83 1825 Plymouth to New St which has come through the affected section at Cowley Bridge Jn. The train was delayed at Newton Abbot, probably to do with the landslip at Teignmouth, and departed Exeter 37 late. Temporary Block Working is in place from Exeter St Davids station to Stoke Canon level crossing. I reckon our speed through Cowley Bridge Jn was between 15 and 20, and I don't think we exceeded 30 before coming to a stand at Stoke Canon. Perhaps someone can confirm what maximum speed applies during TBW, I suppose in theory it should be line speed as the block is proved to be clear, but that would mean trains going past red signals at 100 mph. We're now 44 late passing Norton Fitzwarren, so the delays aren't too severe on the up road.

Good to hear. I'm using that route on Friday so presumably by that time it'll be pretty much to time?

Not good to hear about that Landslip, though!

Earlier this evening, Network Rail tweeted a photograph of a catch fence near Teignmouth holding up what they claim to be 1000 tonnes of liquefied clay, are we now to assume this has given way ?

They've just tweeted to say that it has "deteriorated".

Max speed during TBW is 50mph and 15mph over points - plus there's also a 20 mph EROS from Cowley Br to just after Stafford's Br (approx 1 mile) which kind of negates any 50 mph running to the signal protecting Stoke Canon Xing where the ticket is given up.

On a train...somewhere!
It seems that the Durham Coast is blocked again, after SLW had been operating around the landslip at Hartlepool. GC now looking to resume diversions via ECML and Stillington.

Severe delays to all services on the ECML, XC and TPE not service Newcastle and East Coast attempting to run a severely reduced service, although at present there appears to be little movement.

The live departures system appears to be down this morning so neither Realtime Trains nor NRE will have any live running information.

This from the BBC at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-20525046

A Network Rail spokesman speaking on BBC Radio Devon about an hour ago said that the landslip(Liquefied Mud) was still moving and that an inspection of the cliff face on ropes would be carried out this morning. They said the decision to close the line completely was made because Network rail considered it too unsafe even for their own people to be too close to let alone trains as it was still moving.

Im fairly sure that this is another reason why they closed the line -
