What does that equate to in Pounds Sterling?

It is 49m in sterling. Not sure why he used a dollar sign. QPR reported to receive 9.8m though which isn't the reported percentage.

I wonder if Fabian Delph has had a long meaningful discussion about the loyalty expected of a first team captain with forum member STKKK46?
?

Being rumoured elsewhere he failed the medical.
Sherwoods interview yesterday says he'd agreed terms then changed his mind which doesn't quite tally. Agreeing terms would be contractual subject to conditions such as a medical.

To be fair you have properly pulled Citeh's pants down with that fee. 12th biggest transfer fee of all time apparently. For a player who has scored 18 goals!!
A fool and their money are easily parted

See under DiMaria, Angel. <D

It's nice to finally get this over the line. And City didn't pay £50m, we paid £44m with add ons should he hit his targets. £9M of which goes to QPR and £32M of which has already gone for Benteke.

He's far better off at City than he would be at Liverpool who were already running him into the ground like they did with Torres. He'd already played 15% more minutes than Silva who was City's most used outfield player (only Hart played more)

For such a young player it's a lot of cash but for City it's exactly what we need. Youth, pace, trickery and English. Looking forward to seeing him in the sacred Blue Shirt.

Lord above what a mess !!!

One Kenneth Dalglish cost £440,000 to replace (or actually eclipse Kevin Keegan) from Celtic.

Neither Sterling or Benteke are half as good or worth anything like the amounts being quoted.

He didn't fail a medical. He never went for a medical. On Saturday which was the day he was supposedly having the medical he was at Wetherby food fair with members of his family. A Villa fan spoke to him while he was there and he said the move was never as far down the line as the press had said. He had talked to Citeh but no agreement had been reached.

As a Villa fan I agree. I don't think Benteke is worth 32.5 million. I would say around 22-25million would be about right. But thats the release clause in his contract so we don't have to sell for a penny less.

I tend to agree but that is the market rate. There's not much you can do about it.

What I find incredible is that with the extra money in the game from the BT deal people are actually surprised that transfer fees have gone up.

Having said that, with the 9M going to QPR Liverpool have actually got 200K less than they paid for Andy Carroll.

He's exactly what you're looking for and in that way is a good move, I agree.

I just have questions about his attitude and conduct that would make me very wary of signing him. His off the field antics and the way he has behaved in order to 'help' this transfer go through are an example of that; say Real Madrid come knocking in 3/4 years time after a few good seasons, how will he behave then?

He needs game time at City. While he's a much more promising prospect than Scott Sinclair for example, you don't want him to 'rot' through lack of first-team football. I'd fancy him getting more game time at Liverpool than City based on each team's situation last year, maybe he will go in and be first choice.. time will tell.

The dollar sign is right next to the pound sign on my keyboard. It was my fat fingers that made the mistake. :D

I am sure Sterling will do well at City and he is a good player, however all he proved to me was that he played really well when he had someone of the quality of Suarez (Also with Sturridge up there) dragging defenders away from where he was. He certainly didn't look all that without those quality players around him. He struggled to find the net for starters. Ignoring how much goes to QPR (similar things happen in many other deals) we still got a really good deal for an unfinished article, one of the most expensive players in the world!!!! Ever!!!!

He may get more chances at City than at Liverpool, I'm not sure he will be a first choice, he may well be. He didn't want to play for us though so we did the right thing. Will he be first choice at City? Will he care? He certainly has a few attitude problems although I don't want to sound trite after having Suarez play for us. Ha ha.

Sad to see some Liverpool fans being absolutely classless. These idiots want the book throwing at them.

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-33512299

Twitter trolls who posted abusive messages directed at the daughter of England footballer Raheem Sterling are being investigated by police.
Officers are analysing the posts, sent after it was reported the Liverpool player was on the verge of a £49m transfer to Manchester City.
One user told Sterling to hug his daughter before appearing to make threats against her.

Maybe, maybe not. Sterling is only 20 though and could play for the next 10 years at City and could turn into a cracking player as he gets on.

Also have you adjusted for inflation and sky money when making the comparison ;)

Sterling won't be at City for more than a couple of years his agent will see to that, when Bayern Munich or Barcelona come knocking he'll be gone.

Saying that he may well be one of those players with potential who just fade away similar to Andy Carroll.

On the first part - I don't see why not - if he is winning trophies year after year then why move and city will pay him whatever he wants to keep him

On the second part - that's the worry with every signing especially when its big money.

"If he is winning trophies year after year" is the point though, Man City may not win anything.

Money has ruined football for me. I'll still support my team of course, but I'm not going to be off to 30+ games a season any more... I'm going to adopt Ossett Town as my new "second team"...

Have you adjusted for sheer class ? - Dalglish had it in bucketloads, Sterling is not fit to lace his boots :p

And it's official, Sterling has signed. And City's website has crashed, must be all those empty seats logging in :D

By the way for those who said that Sterling's agent will engineer a move away, they might want to look at a certain C. Tevez when he (or his agent) tried that nonsense. Tevez ended up staying at the Etihad and helped lift City's first league title since 1968.

Two matches on 15th.... .....Well, your team's upward progress and my team's downwards progress sees us both in the same league this coming season.

Hyde United start off the season on 15th August with a home fixture against Grantham Town, then on 18th August, they have an away fixture at Colwyn Bay.

As a city fan i am not so sure that he will even be used that often and may end up like Rodwell.
