I'm pretty sure a recent Modern Railways said that GA will be getting the full compliment. More units will be needed as more services are added though we're still missing a few pre-pandemic peak services. I think there are now over 100 in service though with just over 40 to come. That's a lot of units.
Total 133?

As per reports from well-informed members of this forum, on GA travel is recovering well and GA has returned to paying a premium to the DfT, so they are more likely than some other TOCs to be allowed to increase service levels (and to have the need to extend trains from 5 to 10 car)

And obviously still at Litchurch Lane just now along with 516. There is a 5 car 720 in full view from London Road but unfortunately it has yet to be numbered.

Anyone know when 516 returned to Derby please?

I now have

101, 102, 104, 123, 125, 126, 128, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144

as needing to enter service.

So I make that the following 28 * 720s yet to enter service on GE :-

502, 503, 504, 505, 509,
510, 516, 519,
534
101, 102, 104,
128,
130-144.

That is out of 133.

Of which I assume the early 5XXs will be in a bad state as they must have been completed many years ago and so will have suffered from lack of use in the damp UK climate. I can bet that the newer built 1XXs will all be in service before the remaining 5XXs. But 534 seems an odd one out ?.

The recent pattern seems to have been delivering the later 1xxs, but some of the earlier 5xxs have also been retrieved and delivered in recent months. 101/502/503/504/505 all appear to be at Worksop so looks like they may be amongst the last. Several of the other 5xxs look like they may be being readied for delivery at Derby (but not 534 which seems to have disappeared for months). Deliveries have certainly slowed - presumably not much demand to get more into service.

I was wondering again if Derby have got all the components they need for the 22 extra pairs of cabs required now that the 22*10-car 720/1s have become twice as many 5car 720/1s. There would have been a lead times for those components but I have no idea if that has passed. I do think it is more likely that GE are not in a hurry for the rest of the fleet they once needed pre Covid.
