Right, clues already given:

• Not on Western route
• The view would not have been possible 10 years ago.
• South of Birmingham

More:

• This station has more than one TOC operating into it daily.
• That's an operational platform face on the immediate other side of that fence, so a passenger could easily stand there and look down at me (apart from it having been taken about 3AM!)
• (Hopefully obvious but) I'm standing next to a buffer stop, hence the clamps on the rails and the red block in the photo corner.
• This station is East of central London.

Not sure it has buffers since I've never been properly only been through it but Shenfield? Greater Anglia stop there but also terminus for TFL Rail/CrossElizPurpLine

Yes! Well done!

I'm standing next to the buffer stop on the new bay platform, no 6, which was built as part of the Crossrail project and is used almost entirely for reversing CrossLizPurp trains. Over to you!
