And what about those who can't get on the next service because the one before was cancelled and everyone had to wait for this one. I also don't know about you, but when travelling on the railway I, and most other users, have somewhere to be, and I'd much rather having to stand on a packed train than be potentially an hour late, and still have to get a packed train.

Which is why decisions like the one today are made as they are. The primary purpose of the railway is to try and get passengers and goods from A to B in a timely and safe manner.

Seems to be better today in Devon with three turbos and a few pairs of 150s operating the Exmouth to Paignton services, although one diagram has still been worked by a single 150.

166220 was yesterday's extra unit from Reading to the West for the weekend, with 165109 returning back to Reading tonight - undoing last week's swap.

Looks like another shortage of 16x's today, 3 2 car sets on the Exmouth-Paignton circuit and a 2 car 150 on a Barnstaple diagram! Once again the 150 fleet keeping the job moving!

Good old work horses aren't they! Fingers crossed some of their Welsh cousins may eventually return home in the next few years, if not at least to receive some of the pressure on the main fleet.

Along with being short, the fleet is all over the place this week. There are 2 x 166 working on 2/4car 158 diagrams start of day today, trying to move the misforms between the regions is a mission once they're out!

I do not know the root cause because there could be several contributing factors, and therefore this may be the wrong thread, but it would appear that today 165113+165125 are on all day Paddington - Oxford IET diagram starting with 1D22 1022 Paddington - Oxford.

165113 was spare on RTCD and 165125 was a morning drop out. There was no set to cover the 1036 PAD to PGN so a reshuffle of IET'S with the 165113 covering the 1022 PAD to OXF with 165125 joining at RDG.

We used it for the 21:03 DID to PAD too.

Just making best use of the stock to try to run a full service. :)

Thank you for your explanation. I did notice that the 165s ended up in lieu of a Swansea - Paddington from Didcot. I guess the spare 3-car at Reading only came about because of Saturdays Windsor failure which led to the weekend Windsor 3-car unit having to be replaced by a 2-car which has to stable overnight on the branch (and is still there today). Otherwise, the vice IET turn would likely have been two 2-cars?

Your welcome,

Your correct, it would have been 2x 2 cars had 165105 not failed on the Windsor Branch on Saturday.

3 165s down here today. I like the 165s with the 3+2 seating as it does help with unsocial passengers who put luggage on the seat next to them. At least they can't grab both seats in a 3 bay set. A 2 car with the extra bicycle spaces might be hand for Okehampton.

It looks like this weekends loan of a Reading 165 to Bristol saw 165113 head West on Saturday

but 166206 return to Reading on Sunday evening

166206 is on a Reading - Basingstoke diagram today (2J01 etc)

Exmouth - Paignton is 6x single 150s and 1x 3-car 165 today. I think that's the worst it's been for a long time.

I witnessed passengers left on the platform at Digby & Sowton on Saturday, and it was full and standing on a 2-car on Sunday.

Are there issues with Bristol based Turbos? Or more issues than usual....

Only one on EXM-PGN today.

165105, 165107 and 165117 shall all be doing 387 impressions on Reading to Newbury work.
There is some problems with the OHLE that prevents 387's working in the Newbury area.

166219 is also helping out on the North Downs line.

Does anyone know why the 0659 GTW RDG calls randomly at Gomshall but not Shalford?

Commuter traffic, save from Shalford which is really just a suburb of Guildford then Gomshall is by far the busiest ‘small’ station along that part of the North Downs.
