Good article in The Independent today by Brian Viner on "tv in the 70's" which Hall was at the forefront of with It's a Knock Out, Look North and Grandstand.

Viner was disappointed so many icons of this era on TV have turned out to be somewhat tarnished.

We'll never know what would have happened if Hall had continued to deny it but I suspect he realised the evidence against him was overwhelming. I wouldn't be suprised if he escapes jail because of his age.
