Same here, I personally can't see many if any going even with the new buses. Perhaps temporarily withdrawn until August when it may be a full service again?

Talking of the Eclipse 1/ Gemini 1 series I still haven't gotten used to not seeing eclipse 1s everywhere.

I see the new bus stop arrangements in Musselburgh High Street come into force on Thursday. Also a new bus lane from the Shorthope Street lights to the Dalrymple Loan lights. Let's hope it eases the congestion, despite the loss of parking spaces.

rather peculiar for a single deck to be operating a decker working from another depot. Less unusual than it used to be though.Looks like bus 33 from Longstone has made it onto the 27 from Central this afternoon

Just noticed this evening that the trackers for 651-698 have also been switched on very recently (they were not on a few weeks back). Could this be a possibility the order is indeed 98 buses?
Aye, it quickly left service around 2 hours after entering service

Fleet renewal is an important process to keep the fleet in good condition, to the latest environmental standards and to offer the best customer experience. Another point is drivers get a better experience, in most cases...
There is no negative here, except cost. However, outgoing fleet have paid for themselves. I believe - dont quote me, but a bus on a peak route can pay for itself in a year or two. They then continue to make profit at point of sale.
There is a document somewhere showing cost of new vehicle, how much it'll make in its life and how much its sold for - i think its on one of the freedom of information websites.

Is East Coast Buses still getting the reduced amount?
We've been told to be tight lipped. The company dont want to actively promote new vehicles, which would mean masses of people using the buses for the sake of new stock. Hence why the eVoRa's were rather quietly introduced.
It's a catch22, they'll obviously want customers back, but cant be seen to be actively doing certain things to get custom back.

Fair point actually, especially with the Coronavirus situation aswell, without covid this must make the company bucket loads of money (new vehicles being brung out).

well, Covid being the main reason not to be crammed on buses...
but we'll not to go into that here, there are probably other threads for that.
Almost like the Charles Evans era at LRT where batches of new buses were quietly introduced to service, rather than launched with a fanfare. That's the way it should be.

Our painting is outsourced - it's been difficult to get slots while most facilities chose to remain open for accident damage only.
The program isn't paused, we're just waiting for slots.

Agreed. If 1076 gets fixed, it gets fixed, and if it doesn't, it doesn't. At the end of the day, it's just a bus.

Back on topic; the new bus stops on Musselburgh High Street go live today. I am interested to see if this works or not as bunching was a big problem before. The bus lane is going to be difficult to enforce as the council have kept the on-street parking along the kerb so people will have to cross the bus lane to get to it, and subsequently hold up traffic as they attempt to parallel park!
