Note that Heald Green passengers are unaffected because there is an Edinbrugh train that stops there just before this one.

:roll: Oh that's crap but the again northern have done that kind of thing before there used to be a train that left Piccadilly at 09:30 so off peak tickets could be used but northern retimed it to leave a 09:29 so they could charge peak fares still. Is it possible to get your through ticket on the 0643 train to London it looks like it gets into Euston just a few minutes later than the 0635 (or do you need a stop that the 0635 only calls at?)
That doesn't appear to run on a Saturday :/ But there is a silver lining: the present first Manchester - Crewe via Manchester Airport has been made 15 minutes earlier so it now connects with the 0555 from Pic at Wilmslow. That does offer a slightly earlier London arrival than ever before, at 0810, but in the case of Mauldeth Road it means being on the train for 0527 rather than 0614...

That alright I guess the trains I looked at all got into Euston at around 0900 getting in at 0810 might mean the trains a little quieter as it's not quite the high peak yet.
Irritating, I haven't done it yet, and it'll make it impossible to get to from Southampton.
And it'll require an Anytime ticket again :/

That doesn't mean anything. There could be platform alterations.
And services to Euston run every twenty minutes so it's not a problem.

I downloaded the new all line timetable last week and have just noticed that many of the trains in Scotland have a large W at the head of the train times column, very often with a c and a figure 1. I assume that the 1 is a twist on the normal first class symbol, but is the c for trolley service and W for seat reservations available. Table 229 is a good example (Edinburgh and Glasgow to Aberdeen and Inverness.
Its not going to make much difference to my daily train travelling as I'm 12000 miles away from the nearest UK railway station - in Adelaide in South Australia!

W does seem to be for reservations available and c for the trolley. Unless all those services are Wednesdays only.

London Midland will be running its first direct Euston to Crewe service via Birmingham New St. Dep Euston at 20:46 and combining with the 23:09 New St to Crewe. Also vice versa with a following morning service from Crewe to New St/New St to Euston.

Moderation of Competition against Virgin so was never allowed from Wolverhampton? WSMR was only allowed to set down from Shrewsbury or pick up heading to Shrewsbury. Same with Manchester to London & even under VXC days, nobody else could operate Bristol to Birmingham.

If you mean the 06:47 from Crewe and 20:46 from Euston NRES does show them as through services but you have to alter the settings on NRES because these trains are overtaken by faster trains.

Boo, just discovered Walkden has lost its lovely off-peak clockface timetable into Manchester, xx20 and xx50. Now xx29 and xx49, which seems to give no connection to Piccadilly at Salford Crescent now on the xx29, which seems nuts (currently a 14min wait).

Several minor changes on Abellio Greater Anglia but the 06.24 Nrw-Lst continues to call at Colchester even though it is full & standing daily from Manningtree if not from Ipswich. Can only get worse with London employment continuing to boom.

I can't say I'm delighted by the changes in the Dewsbury/Batley area with regards to journeys from Manchester.
I usually leave work around 1640 and catch the 1656 from MAN which gets me to BTL at 1750 with a 9 minute wait at DEW. Now there is no train from MAN between 1641 and 1725 that connects; even if can leave work earlier the 1641 from MAN now requries a ridiculous 18 minute wait at DEW. It seems they have got the stopping pattern mixed up so that the trains that could connect to the stopper at DEW don't now stop there, and vice versa.
In fact, it looks like peak time trains between Huddersfield and Batley/Morley/Cottingley will be awful. Currently there is a train roughly every half an hour, at approx xx31 and xx57 - one direct and one with a change at DEW, both with an average total journey time of 20 minutes. From the change this goes to xx13 and xx59(ish) with the xx13 taking 30 mins, due to the poor connection at DEW.
Not joined up thinking methinks.

The 1656 MAN to LDS then back to Batley gets in at 1811, 20+ mins more (42%) than before and would add £185 a year to my season ticket cost.
It's only another 10 minutes. I use to have to wait 20 minutes at Clapham Junction for a connecting train. I guess at Clapham Junction you can catch other trains and travel up and down other lines to kill time instead of standing around [this being pre waiting room reopenings].

AND my local Line Liverpool - Wigan has been f'ed up aswell, used to be an easy timetable, towards wigan it was 26 and 56 but now its 24 and 52 mins past the hour and towards Liverpool it was 29 and 59 mins past the hour but now its 25 and 57, really not impressed with these changes one bit!

So two 30 - 30 services have changed two 32 - 28 services? Is that really so bad?
Have a look at Outwood's services, 2tph but at xx:59 and xx:14 to Leeds! THAT is bad! (the changes move it to 15 and 30).
i think it is bad mate as over the last few years Train Passenger Numbers have been growing at Thatto Heath due to Bus Prices being high and a growing Unreliable Service, i would hate to see people start using the Bus again as a return from Thatto Heath to Town is just £1.50 compared to a £2.20 Single by Arriva.

Are northern moving away with the through services from the calder valley line to the york/selby line? Seems on the new timetable that a lot of the services from york/selby terminate at leeds! does this mean more use of platforms 7 and 14 at leeds?

There's generally one train an hour from each of York and Selby that goes down the Calder Valley line. That seems to be unchanged. The only trains I can see for most of the day which do not have times beyond Leeds are the XC trains.
