Did a round up of Merseyrail today.
Saw 42 in service
Kirkdale was 04, 08, 14, 140 and 142
Not seen were 17, 19, 21, 35, 49 and 148
Anybody any ideas where the other 6 maybe. Southport was completely empty. 35 may have been inside at Kirkdale as it was apparently outside on Saturday

Units can often be found scattered around the network at various locations. Not uncommon to see the odd unit stabled throughout the day at New Brighton, West Kirby, Rock Ferry, Hooton, Birkenhead Central and of course Birkenhead North depot. Of course units are sometimes completely out of view inside the sheds at Birkenhead North or Kirkdale too.

777035 out on test. Seen working 5T05, Southport to Sandhills, and therefore presumably worked 5T04 earlier. Next trip cancelled due to separate issue (track fault).

Is this confirmed as it was stated only a week ago that 035 needed completely new wheels and might even be scrapped? Difficult to see how it’s already now on test.

Apparently this is not the case and 035 is very much not in any state to go out.

Edit - Apparently its had various bits nicked for other units along with 004 and 008.

Plenty of photos on facebook today showing 777035 out on test between Southport and Sandhills.
Unless my mate at stadler is mistaken and his system is lying, it's still knackered in its usual spot.

Happy to be proven wrong though- I also don't use Facebook so can't see.

I seen it at Sandhills. Brand new wheel sets and interior looked complete. I had to double take but I can confirm it was 777035.

Thought it was a track fault so not the trams as you put them.
It was a track fault between Hamilton Sq & James Street and then later between Sandhills & Southport. Seems to happen way too often these days as do many other infrastructure issues around the network.

There would of course be a precedent. GBRf once numbered a new Class 66 66734 even though that number was previously carried by a crashed loco.
True, and the first 66734 was very broken. Much more broken compared to 777035 (Mk1). I am not aware of a 777 having sneaked into the UK so I feel that the original 777035 is alive and kicking.

But that is enough drifting off topic into conjecture.

Once they had the new bogies available it was never going to take very long to change.
