Thanks. Hope to be in the area on Thursday.
Units can often be found scattered around the network at various locations. Not uncommon to see the odd unit stabled throughout the day at New Brighton, West Kirby, Rock Ferry, Hooton, Birkenhead Central and of course Birkenhead North depot. Of course units are sometimes completely out of view inside the sheds at Birkenhead North or Kirkdale too.Did a round up of Merseyrail today.
Saw 42 in service
Kirkdale was 04, 08, 14, 140 and 142
Not seen were 17, 19, 21, 35, 49 and 148
Anybody any ideas where the other 6 maybe. Southport was completely empty. 35 may have been inside at Kirkdale as it was apparently outside on Saturday
Is this confirmed as it was stated only a week ago that 035 needed completely new wheels and might even be scrapped? Difficult to see how it’s already now on test.777035 out on test. Seen working 5T05, Southport to Sandhills, and therefore presumably worked 5T04 earlier. Next trip cancelled due to separate issue (track fault).
That’s not a surprise. I had my doubts.Apparently this is not the case and 035 is very much not in any state to go out.
Plenty of photos on facebook today showing 777035 out on test between Southport and Sandhills. That’s not a surprise. I had my doubts.
Thought it was a track fault so not the trams as you put them.I not one to complain about these trams but the whole wirral network to liverpool has bern off again. Thats twice this week what a shambles.
Unless my mate at stadler is mistaken and his system is lying, it's still knackered in its usual spot.Plenty of photos on facebook today showing 777035 out on test between Southport and Sandhills.
I seen it at Sandhills. Brand new wheel sets and interior looked complete. I had to double take but I can confirm it was 777035.Unless my mate at stadler is mistaken and his system is lying, it's still knackered in its usual spot.
Happy to be proven wrong though- I also don't use Facebook so can't see.
It was a track fault between Hamilton Sq & James Street and then later between Sandhills & Southport. Seems to happen way too often these days as do many other infrastructure issues around the network.Thought it was a track fault so not the trams as you put them.
Yes my mate has since come back and said oh yeah so it was. Must have put some man hours in on it this week!I seen it at Sandhills. Brand new wheel sets and interior looked complete. I had to double take but I can confirm it was 777035.
You were saying? There's a lesson there in believing unsubstantiated rumours, I think.Well this aged well!

Disaster - no 777154 to look forward toNot bad for a unit that was getting scrapped last week according to some![]()
Well, it was hit and miss for quite a while.Disaster - no 777154 to look forward to
OR do I mean 777054![]()

So has it finally been repaired?035 on Sandhills to Southport again today.
Surely either 777035 has been repaired or it was never broken in the first placeSo has it finally been repaired?
Or it’s 777054, numbered as 777035 to trick everyoneSurely either 777035 has been repaired or it was never broken in the first place.
I had overlooked that possibilityOr it’s 777054, numbered as 777035 to trick everyone![]()
There would of course be a precedent. GBRf once numbered a new Class 66 66734 even though that number was previously carried by a crashed loco.I had overlooked that possibility.
True, and the first 66734 was very broken. Much more broken compared to 777035 (Mk1). I am not aware of a 777 having sneaked into the UK so I feel that the original 777035 is alive and kicking. There would of course be a precedent. Once they had the new bogies available it was never going to take very long to change.True, and the first 66734 was very broken. Much more broken compared to 777035 (Mk1). I am not aware of a 777 having sneaked into the UK so I feel that the original 777035 is alive and kicking.
But that is enough drifting off topic into conjecture.
