West Kirbys are due to go over to 777s imminently with New Brightons early next year. Will these be booked for Southports only come the timetable change?
Southports will remain as (mostly) 507/8 into early to mid next year.

508 108 on the Ormskirks this morning.
507001 is on the New Brighton line, working .35 departures from Liverpool Central. Another booked move to Kirkdale didn't happen last night, but surely it will be on the Southport line before long.Any obs of 507001 or 507003 today please?
Christmas shopping and football matches may well change this, but I think it's currently 18 on a normal Saturday (10 Southport line, 4 New Brighton and 4 West Kirby). I imagine the next couple of Saturdays will see at least some six-car operation on the Southport line as there were reports of passengers unable to board last Saturday.Just out of curiosity, how many diagrams are there on Saturdays please?

Not sure 507003 has returned to service from overhaul yet.

What 508s remain in service?508114 inside the main shed at Birkenhead North this afternoon with a red flashing light attached. Ominous as it is expected to be the next one for scrap alongside 508108. These 508s were both on the Southport line yesterday.
The only 508s left in service now are 104, 108, 114, 120 and 131What 508s remain in service?
Am I right 120 and 131 are now withdrawn ? This would leave 104 108 114 in service508114 was on Southports yesterday (13/12) 508108 was also on the Rush hour service 508104 was on New Brighton 507029 on Chesters and 508131 was inside at Birkenhead North 777001 was on Southports (3 evening RHs were pairs)

Possibly all 508s out by the end of the year then
They will be, the leases expire on the 31st of this month.
There is the possibility of three 508s making it in to the new year.Possibly all 508s out by the end of the year then
Yes, 508108 and 508109 (as 008 and 009) were the first 508s in traffic but on the Southern on 17/12/79. First working was Waterloo - Shepperton I believe. First 508 in service on Merseyside was 508142 (as 042), later a Silverlink 508 but long scrapped sadly.Great news if three 508s can hang on into 2024. It would be very fitting if 508108 was the very last to bow out, with it being the (joint?) first 508 to enter traffic on Merseyside metals. That would more than make up for the BLS not selecting it for October's excellent railtour.

Rather glad if 508120 and 131 don't get the honour as both were in fairly poor nick last time I rode them. 508114 is a machine though; a superb unit at the last.
