One thing I find interesting about the 100 on Sundays is that there appears to have been a substantial growth in usage since it was subsidised to hourly, from its previous 2 hourly frequency. Is this a recognition by the council that the subsidy is no longer needed?

Hello guys,
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows what's happened to the omnibuses blog.
I think they had some problems before last Xmas but news & posts became daily again. Now it's gone :(

Wonder what new route they will use the 6(?) vehicles on?

It is only 4 plus one extra at peak times.

They may well end up on the Y28 short term or as spares.

Rumour was that Y36 was getting new buses, and cascading to Y28 and Citylink, but that may well have changed now.

Citylink was doomed from the moment they put max speed 56mph buses on at half trent Barton's frequency. The following red arrow (that leaves five minutes later) usually overtakes the Citylink at bramcote because it's much quicker.

I wonder if this may be part of a larger picture? It might be a sign that YB may be choosing to, or being required to, better manage their poorest performing routes. Another sign of this would be a reduction in off peak services on services like Y5 being made in the near future.

Can't see the Y28 surviving much longer.

Or the Heanor - Y1 is it?

Very poor loadings on that too.

On the odd occasion I use the H1 the Y1 is busier - usually as it arrives first. Teatime back from Derby it seems the H1 is busier. Perhaps commuters have stayed more loyal to Trent?

From what I've seen, a lot of the off-peak passengers on Y1 are pensioners, whilst the Y28 does seem to have more fare paying passengers when I've seen it

Interesting article in the latest Routeone about Yourbus, it has just turned 5 years old & has built-up an impressive business from nothing.

http://www.route-one.net/issues/541/index.html#/24/

There also doesn't appear to be reduced growth appetite, as 10 x Euro 6 Citaro's are due later this year for fleet expansion and will be in a new in-house designed livery

Wonder where these and the current Citaros will go.

One thing about that article - I hate it when people lie through their teeth.

Quite a bit of food for thought here. Not least where this phenomenal passenger growth is coming from. Is it all y36 which has taken a significant chunk out of NCTs service. Presumably due to the closure of High Road, and YB choosing the better route to chilwell. It does have the feel of Scott building up the reputation and brand. The question is why?

It'd be interesting to see the breakdown of profits from the NX work / contract work / commercial work.

Good to see they've not been taking part in any price wars.

Biggest lie of them all - the livery looks to be a rip-off of Lothian's livery!

Don't recall ever seeing a Yourbus that was notably busy, only the Y36 seems to generate many passengers. I'm more than a bit doubtful at some of the claims made.

I believe one of the changes on the 47 is to make it pick-up only between town and Mapperley top

The article makes little mention of the fact that Citylink is following hot in the heels of Y81 and Y100, nor that two depots have shut, one under bad circumstances.

I'm also fairly confident that the Y28 doesn't have wifi which goes against the point of the entire commercial fleet having wifi.

Note that only turnover is mentioned and it's not broken down. £35 million is a lot to turn over but there are also a lot of costs involved, not least buying a lot of new buses. Plus that includes an established Australian firm which I'm guessing turns over a healthy amount. If profits were as good as turnover then I'm sure it would have been mentioned.

Like the saying goes "figures are like a lamppost to a drunk person, more for leaning on than illumination."

It appears that the changes are Harlequin and Spondon Flyer Nightowls being withdrawn, the Ilkeston Flyer Nightowl additionally calling at stops on Dale Road to cover.

But did the original registration say that and the service never just reached Alfreton?
If it is extended to Alfreton it explains where one of the vehicles used on the Citylink is going. Now why don't they extend some of the other Y1s from Heanor to Eastwood, IKEA & beyond....
