Yes but the 'direct' link to Derby - Amberline or Black Cat are both indirect. You should see the numbers that transfer between the Rainbow1 & Y1 or H1 in Heanor.

I've always thought it would be a good idea if the Rainbow 1 and H1 were combined ala Indigo and i4. Maybe the Ilkeston routes would benefit from this too?

Isn't the extension of Y1 to Alfreton a retaliation to IF being extended to Cotmanhay?

I wonder if this may be part of a larger picture? It might be a sign that YB may be choosing to, or being required to, better manage their poorest performing routes. Another sign of this would be a reduction in off peak services on services like Y5 being made in the near future.

Does the Y5 actually perform particularly poorly though? I happened to be on it in the very early hours last Saturday morning and while it was never full it was getting a constant turn over of passengers all the way from Derby to Nottingham - if they had all been on it at once you could easily have had 1.5 people to a seat. As it was most were travelling from one town/suburb to the next. Even with the ridiculous route (I sware we went via Mordor and Narnia on the way) we still got back to Nottingham quicker than we would have done on the Red Arrow taking the waiting time in Derby and getting across Nottingham city centre into account.

Interesting to see the 22 and 55 becoming part of the Rushciffe Greens network.

The 55 actually used to have through ticketing onto the Bingham Xprss when it was operated by MASS Transit and Dunn-Line. Obviously when it passed to Premiere, there was through ticketing onto the X1/Red1 and later a through service to Bottesford.

Also noticed that Gem Mini Travel are entering the local bus market around Bassetlaw.

Be interesting to see which way they extend to replace the 22. Logic says Bingham direct to Langar and onto Sutton. That then provides a fast link to Nottingham as well as Bingham shopping for the villages.
But doing that leaves the houses round the doctors & the top of Fern Hill at Cropwell Bishop with no bus. But if you extend the Cropwell (old) Radcliffe Line bus through to Langar & Sutton you aren't providing a link to Bingham for those villages.

(Oh & ps the Centrebus 24 is cut to 3 journeys a day into Bingham from later this year).

Is that cut for Centrebus 24 now definite ? - not seen it confirmed anywhere.

The proposed new timetables are(were?) on the Leicestershire County Council website. They may undergo some final tweaking but the basics have been agreed with various users, parish councils etc.

I'm certain they have done it before - especially on routes such as the 77 which serve a number of secondary schools/colleges.

I see that NCT have introduced some summer school holiday schedule timetables, not seen this before

They definitely did it last year and I think the year before. I thinks its happened since the major GO2 routes were upped from every 10 minutes to every 6-8, which isn't needed in the summer

Yourbus website:

We’re sorry to advise that our Citylink service operating between Nottingham and Derby will be withdrawn after the last departure on Sunday 27 July 2014.

It’s not been an easy decision to make but unfortunately the service has not seen the growth we’d have hoped since starting the route in February 2013.

Our competitor on the service price matching our fares has also had an impact on the number of passengers carried on Citylink and it’s unfortunate they have already increased the price of their week ticket.

On behalf of everyone at yourbus and also the Citylink crew, we’d like to thank all our loyal passengers who have supported our service from day one - we really have appreciated your custom.

Nottingham Post often has letters complementing TB drivers and slagging off NCT ones. In my 20+ years of living in and around Nottingham, I only ever came across one arsey driver and that was on TB Nottingham-Bingham bus

Interestingly, I've also encountered an unpleasant driver on that route.

I've also met one of the nicest drivers I've come across on what was the Radcliffe Line - saw him several times that day and he gave me a wave every time. I'd just moved to Nottingham, and had complimented him on how friendly everyone I'd met at TB seemed (I'd also had some help to find the RL stop from a driver on Ruddingtons and then spoken to some bus station staff!).

I think any company will have a share of bad eggs, and a share of those who shine. It's incredibly rare I ever need to travel to any of the areas served by NCT, so I can't really comment - but on the occasions I have travelled with them, I've never had a memorably bad experience with their drivers.

There are a few 'hero' drivers I've come across on my travels with TB, including one i4 driver just before Christmas one year who took a Sandiacre service out of Broadmarsh just as heavy snow started to fall. Unknown at the time, but it transpired he was the last bus out of Broadmarsh before buses were stopped. He said he could have kicked everyone off and headed back to the depot, but was immensely keen to ensure all his passengers got home. It took about 10 minutes to get up the hill by Bramcote Leisure Centre on the A52, but he persisted and got everyone home

Then, in contrast, there's one guy who also regularly drives on the i4, who just couldn't give a fig about passengers. He's got a very agressive driving style (including sharp braking and plenty of honking) and I've seen him shout at passengers before for things like not having exact change (on a service which is advertised as giving change!).

Trent have issued the new timetables online for August changes.
Sees last 141 out of Mansfield at 6pm & Nottingham at 730pm. Leaves villages like Rainworth & Blidworth, which aren't small, with no evening bus service.
Also sees the end of Trent Barton serving Bulwell Town Centre which they have been doing for over 80 years I imagine.

It does though see them back in the likes of Aslockton, Orston & Bottesford for the first time in a while.
