What is the oldest livery still in revenue service? I would like to know ones for 4 categories: locos, electric and diesel multiple units and coaches and wagons. I have a guees at EWS being the oldest overall.
Definitely not. There are Class 92s running with their original paint.I have a guees at EWS being the oldest overall.
Blimey, I thought banger blue Gronks would be around forever!Any 08s still in BR blue? I think there may be one at Canton.
I know it's been "DB patched" but the EWS livery dates back to mid-1998.
And a GBRf one too (92044). In fact, I think the GBRf one is more original having retained its name and gained a small GBRf logo on the cab side. There are still 92s in EWS “beasties” grey livery.
Do you mean "as painted", or "retro paint job"? I presume the formerWhat is the oldest livery still in revenue service? I would like to know ones for 4 categories: locos, electric and diesel multiple units and coaches and wagons.
Exactly -Civil engineers Dutch livery dates back to the '90s and can now be seen on 73119
Let's not forget green and white 69005.
Yeah, you’re right. It lost it’s depot markings and tunnel rings recently though. And a GBRf one too (92044). In fact, I think the GBRf one is more original having retained its name and gained a small GBRf logo on the cab side.
It’s not the same WCRC livery as the original one though.Isnt 20007 in BR Green ?
90001/2 have never been out of service, so technically is continuous…
WCRC livery has been around since 1998… the mk1’s arguably back to the 1950’s have been in continous use, as have the Mk1 pullmans dating back to the days of SLOA.
VSOE livery on Belmond has been around a bit too.
I think its 08499. Still blue when I last passed there, although no doubt a fairly recent repaint.Blimey, I thought banger blue Gronks would be around forever!

I believe 08485 at Carnforth is still in original BR blue, looking rather faded these daysAny 08s still in BR blue? I think there may be one at Canton.
Network Rail as an organisation is younger than the EWS livery.I don't have the dates to hand, but any of the Network Rail or TfL engineering trains? The ones that are yellow all over
Yes, the original six 57/0 locos hark back to mid 1998, so - as you rightly say - Freigliner green-yellow dates to mid 1998Am I right in thinking Freightliner green first appeared on a 57 around the same time?
I mean as painted, otherwise the answer would be BR green on one of the 69s.Do you mean "as painted", or "retro paint job"? I presume the former.
Thanks- I thought you meant that From the above comments, it seems the 08's are in the lead for oldest loco livery and VSOE Pullmans for oldest carriage livery (albeit a lighter shade of brown than in steam days).I mean as painted, otherwise the answer would be BR green on one of the 69s.
If we don’t count shunters the 92s in Grey (044 in particular) would be the winner I think.Thanks- I thought you meant that From the above comments, it seems the 08's are in the lead for oldest loco livery and VSOE Pullmans for oldest carriage livery (albeit a lighter shade of brown than in steam days).
Do the London Underground / Glasgow Subway / Hythe Pier Electric Tramway "fit" your criteria? Or did you mean national rail?

I think the OP's "in revenue service' means in normal service, not in charter use. That would also mean VSOE carriage livery gets excludedIs there a kettle certified for the main line that has been in BR livery continuously since before 1968? One of the rebuilt Bulleid Pacifics or a BR standard perhaps.
