What is the oldest livery still in revenue service? I would like to know ones for 4 categories: locos, electric and diesel multiple units and coaches and wagons. I have a guees at EWS being the oldest overall.

I know it's been "DB patched" but the EWS livery dates back to mid-1998.
Another contender from the mid-to-latter 1990's is Hanson Indistries livery, applied to 59/1s

There's an Intercity BG/GUV at Longsight.

Also an original Anglia livery 47, unless it's had some attention recenly near Worksop:

Civil engineers Dutch livery dates back to the '90s and can now be seen on 73119
Let's not forget green and white 69005.

Do you mean "as painted", or "retro paint job"? I presume the former

Exactly -

69s are in BR monastral blue / in large logo /in RTC / in Brunswick green.

313201 in passenger blue/grey (admittedly withdrawn at the start of May).

Isnt 20007 in BR Green ?

90001/2 have never been out of service, so technically is continuous…

WCRC livery has been around since 1998… the mk1’s arguably back to the 1950’s have been in continous use, as have the Mk1 pullmans dating back to the days of SLOA.

VSOE livery on Belmond has been around a bit too without changes.
Royal Train probably holds a few records too.

It’s not the same WCRC livery as the original one though.

For electric, has to now be London Underground, which dates from around 1990 and is essentially unaltered since then, and have been running over the DC lines ever since.

I don't have the dates to hand, but any of the Network Rail or TfL engineering trains? The ones that are yellow all over

Sorry, not strictly on the mainland network but the central line 1992 stock surely has to be a contender here, they have not been re-livered since new (1993) and are not going to be as part of the refresh they're getting now

I mean as painted, otherwise the answer would be BR green on one of the 69s.
Thanks- I thought you meant that :) From the above comments, it seems the 08's are in the lead for oldest loco livery and VSOE Pullmans for oldest carriage livery (albeit a lighter shade of brown than in steam days).

Do the London Underground / Glasgow Subway / Hythe Pier Electric Tramway "fit" your criteria? Or did you mean national rail?

It is now undergoing an overhaul at the ELR, but until then D9502 was still carrying the paint it was delivered in back in 1964.

If we don’t count shunters the 92s in Grey (044 in particular) would be the winner I think.

Is there a kettle certified for the main line that has been in BR livery continuously since before 1968? One of the rebuilt Bulleid Pacifics or a BR standard perhaps.

I think the OP's "in revenue service' means in normal service, not in charter use. That would also mean VSOE carriage livery gets excluded

If charters count, it's a mainline certified loco in a Big Four livery - I believe GWR green is on one current example. If no Big Four examples at the moment, it'll be 1i948 livery like B1 "Mayflower".
British Railways brunswick came into use 1951-ish.
