Perhaps that's why they are paid to start from Glasgow and finish at GlasgowYou ask them! Just because they live in Glasgow does not make them LNER Glasgow based crew.
They are LNER Edinburgh based crew who live in Glasgow.

so you now agree LNER don’t have a Glasgow depot and Glasgow based staff?Perhaps that's why they are paid to start from Glasgow and finish at Glasgow
Point taken regards crews, but regards the viability of a TOC operating a service to/from a certain station, I would always presume some one commenting like 92002 did, was referring to drivers and train managers, which is what each of my comments and posts was referring to.Just to clarify for the Glasgow crew discussion (as someone who works for LNER), the Senior Host, Chef and 2 Hosts who work 1E06 in the morning, are all from the former Glasgow depot crew, they book on at 0623, and are joined by one Edinburgh host that books on at 0735 (Monday - Friday). They book off in Edinburgh on return, and they remain officially Edinburgh crew. On Saturdays only, an Edinburgh host books on at 0450 and taxis through to Glasgow - however in reality this usually reverts to an 0735 book on.
1S23 has 2 hosts booked through to Glasgow and travel back pass on the 2215 from Glasgow Queen Street, with a book off time of 2324. Many people that live in Glasgow choose to take a roster with this shift on for their own benefit.
Drivers and Train Managers for 1E06/1S23 all book on and off in Edinburgh - only the catering for 1E06 book on in Glasgow remotely.
We don’t officially have a Glasgow depot no, but the small number of remaining crew formerly based in Glasgow are guaranteed the option of the roster with a remote Glasgow book on at 0623 Monday - Saturday. On Sundays, they work out of Edinburgh.
No I don't agree. The staff in Glasgow are paid from when they book on in Glasgow and when they book off in Glasgowso you now agree LNER don’t have a Glasgow depot and Glasgow based staff?
And no, they will be paid from when they book on, they book on by phone.
As for finishing, they don’t book off via phone or email, unless overtime is involved, so if they go straight home rather than pass back to Glasgow that’s there choice they will still be paid as though they went back to Edinburgh.
Well I will leave it there, it’s been explained by myself and others that LNER do not have a Glasgow depot and staff are based in Edinburgh. I won’t comment any more even though others and myself have stated facts to you.also when commenting on post be specific who you are on about, any one commenting on this would assume driver/train managers. No I don't agree. The staff in Glasgow are paid from when they book on in Glasgow and when they book off in Glasgow
Would your proposed train every 2 hours to Harrogate be in addition to the current service every two hours to Harrogate or instead of it?With LNER ordering 10 new CAF units earlier today (9/11/2023), it has raised questions that LNER could possibly expand to new destinations in West Yorkshire, among other places. I was personally thinking of the following:
1 train every two hours from London King's Cross to Bradford Foster Square (as an extension of the Leeds service)
1 train every two hours from London King's Cross to Harrogate (as an extension of the Leeds service)
These two would alternate meaning that there would be 3tph between London King's Cross and Leeds with one extending to Harrogate at one hour and one the next hour going to Bradford Foster Square.
Another alternative is a service every hour from London King's Cross to Newcastle (meaning that there are 3tph to Newcastle), the service could extend every few hours to Sunderland to compete with GC, but this would have to be worked out with Tyne & Wear Metro increasing frequency and Northern wanting 2tph on the line.
Of course there is the Cleethorpes service which would be operated by these new CAF units or 80x, Skipton could potentially see an increase in London services, Hull could get a service every few hours and Middlesbrough could see an increase.
Instead of. Every 2 hours to Bradford could work and would pounce on GC's territory a bit more as there likely is demand. Skipton 2x daily works.Would your proposed train every 2 hours to Harrogate be in addition to the current service every two hours to Harrogate or instead of it?
Long ago there were plans for a train every 2 hours to Bradford Forster Square and to Skipton. The plans to Skipton were binned some years ago and to Bradford more recently (and the second daily train to/from Bradford is due to be removed shortly).
Why would you replace a train every 2 hours to Harrogate with a train every 2 hours to errrr Harrogate?Instead of. Every 2 hours to Bradford could work and would pounce on GC's territory a bit more as there likely is demand. Skipton 2x daily works.
My mistake. Why would you replace a train every 2 hours to Harrogate with a train every 2 hours to errrr Harrogate?
One runs from Doncaster to Newcastle once a day via Hartlepool around 12:30. Its booked as ECS.There is an empty LNER train runs up and down the Durham Coast line every day. Passes through Hartlepool heading South just after 2:30 pm and returns North just after 7:30 pm. Never has any passengers on it and always seems to be " on time " .
The service has been running for at least 2 years now.
Not every day! It’s started last week (poss the week before) most certainly has not for 2 years! There is an empty LNER train runs up and down the Durham Coast line every day. It is a route learner and is for a very short temporary period and is not a regular move. One runs from Doncaster to Newcastle once a day via Hartlepool around 12:30. Its booked as ECS.
There are also 2x daily LNER services via Hartlepool between Heaton Depot and Middlesbrough, obviously ECS moves from Heaton in the morning for the Middlesbrough-London service and then from Middlesbrough to Heaton. It is a route learner and is for a very short temporary period and is not a regular move.

And I can assure you am LNER has not been passing at 1430 every day for the last 2 years, completely not happened!I live next to the rail line , and I have a pair of eyes. I work from home most days and can’t help seeing everything going up and down as it is in my eyeline.
This service has been going up and down that line for 2 years , possibly longer.
It went South today just after 14:30 and it will go back North around 19:40 .
Not sure why you think I would be lying about this, but I can assure you what I have said is 100 % accurate. It’s actually one of the few trains going up and down that line you could set your watch by.
In my first post I said last week possibly week before! If i week out so be it, your 2 years outSo originally you said it had started a week ago , now you are saying possibly 2-3 weeks ago.
If you keep adding a fortnight on incrementally at the same rate as you have thus far today, I reckon by tea time tomorrow you will have arrived at the right answer![]()
5Z60 / 5Z61 path started 6th NovemberIn my first post I said last week possibly week before! If i week out so be it, your 2 years out
You have not seen it run for the last two years. Fact!
Post 76 by you implies you’ve seen it every day for 2 years. Maybe consider how you word you posts, and how your words are interpreted.I've not seen the service every day for the last 2 years because I am not staring at trains tracks all day every day .
In my ignorance I assumed because it looked like the same train that was going Northbound at 19:40 that it was the same train that was going Southbound . Clearly it is not- though I am somewhat mystified by your comments about a direct LNER Kings Cross to Middlesbrough service as I wasn't aware that was a thing.
I don't know how often this " route refresh " occurs or how often drivers need training , but if it has been happening by your own admission daily for possibly the last 3 weeks , then surely you must be willing to accept that it has also been happening relatively regularly prior to 3 weeks ago ? The words refresh and training suggests this is the case, and I am telling you for a fact that this train has been going Southbound at that time on a regular basis for at least 2 years because I have seen it .
There's a daily (M-F) 1527 from Kings Cross to Middlesborough (although not tomorrow).
Are you sure you aren't thinking of 1N92 operated by GC that passes Hartlepool around 14:30 and then 1N94 around 19:45 operated by GC.It went South today just after 14:30 and it will go back North around 19:40 .
I would like to see a few more LNER services to Glasgow! Surprised they haven't extended the TPE service to Glasgow from Edinburgh, aren't the drivers based at polmadie but sign on at EdinburghGlasgow certainly seems pointless now that its frequency has been totally slashed in the first place. It's faster to change and use ScotRail to Queen Street most of the time anyhow, and there are lots of staff at Edi to help people with transfers. I do think that there is scope for improvement on the Newcastle-Edinburgh-Motherwell-Glasgow corridor, especially considering the buck keeps passing between LNER, XC, TPE and ScotRail. Personally, I'd transfer the whole lot to ScotRail, but knowing the current state of affairs, the LNER cutbacks will be replaced with absolutely nothing!

The Glasgow service as well as the Stirling are planned to be withdrawn from the December 2024 timetable.I would like to see a few more LNER services to Glasgow! Surprised they haven't extended the TPE service to Glasgow from Edinburgh, aren't the drivers based at polmadie but sign on at Edinburgh

But they still have new drivers coming on board who need to drive the class 1 service for the next year!I'm surprised that considering the withdrawal of Glasgow in a years time, 5S04/3E21 still run through empty from Edinburgh.
This is only a recent addition (about a year or two when they were ran as empties to Glasgow during the day) but you'd think if Glasgow isn't going to be a long term thing they'd do away with it.
