5Q93 Avanti liveried 805 heading North today from London
805009 according to RTT.5Q93 Avanti liveried 805 heading North today from London
On the WCML Pendolino the Rear pantograph is used, in the early days there were signalling failure issues in particular axle counter failures at Bourne End Junction Hemel Hempstead, a the class 390 was in the early days always using the leading pantograph, it was found this was causing interference and since then the rear pantographs are now used and this solved the failure problems.Does anyone know if they will use the rear pantographs like LNER do?
Gauging tests for diversions. What would the latter have been doing at Euston?
It’s also been to Waterloo, as gauge clearance testing, for when the GWML is closed at Old Oak Common as part of HS2 work. What would the latter have been doing at Euston?
Think I saw that the preference is into Euston, 2 paths per hour. There are going to be some really interesting journeys for the enthusiasts if GWR will be operating into both Waterloo and Euston!
Would both options be a possibility? Say stuff ex west country into Waterloo, and stuff ex Bristol and South Wales into Euston? Would this provide more capacity ?Think I saw that the preference is into Euston, 2 paths per hour.
The more you can divert the better it is for customers. Suppose all depends on what driver resource would be available, and how many paths.Would both options be a possibility? Say stuff ex west country into Waterloo, and stuff ex Bristol and South Wales into Euston? Would this provide more capacity ?
1 to Penzance and 1 to South WalesThink I saw that the preference is into Euston, 2 paths per hour.

hope anyone dosent mind me asking but what is a GWR 800 doing at Euston??
So does that mean the 807's won't be working to Liverpool?Just watching the TfN Board Meeting and they have mentioned the 805 trains having to run to Liverpool due to electricity supply issues in the Crewe area. 805s will run between Crewe and Liverpool on diesel. They have also mentioned their target to introduce these are June.
That seems odd. Pendolinos have been running to Liverpool for twenty years. So why will replacing them with shorter 807s (let alone 805s) be a problem for the power supply?Just watching the TfN Board Meeting and they have mentioned the 805 trains having to run to Liverpool due to electricity supply issues in the Crewe area. 805s will run between Crewe and Liverpool on diesel. Another couple of minutes lost running on diesel then lol.Just watching the TfN Board Meeting and they have mentioned the 805 trains having to run to Liverpool due to electricity supply issues in the Crewe area. 805s will run between Crewe and Liverpool on diesel. Demand for electricity will be higher due to diesel trains (221s) being replaced by electrics (805 / 807s) and the doubling of the frequency of trains to Liverpool. Is the supply up to it?That seems odd. Pendolinos have been running to Liverpool for twenty years. So why will replacing them with shorter 807s (let alone 805s) be a problem for the power supply?
But LNR runs fewer services to Liverpool than it did, and all the freight uses diesel these days.Demand for electricity will be higher due to diesel trains (221s) being replaced by electrics (805 / 807s) and the doubling of the frequency of trains to Liverpool. Is the supply up to it?
Is this a temporary issue whilst Liverpoll crews are trained on 805s?Just watching the TfN Board Meeting and they have mentioned the 805 trains having to run to Liverpool due to electricity supply issues in the Crewe area. 805s will run between Crewe and Liverpool on diesel. I would imagine it's the extra services they will be running as the current trains seem to have no issuesThat seems odd. Pendolinos have been running to Liverpool for twenty years. So why will replacing them with shorter 807s (let alone 805s) be a problem for the power supply?
I'm not too sure, the FirstGroup Managing Director mentioned more drivers are being trained for resilience. I must say having an unnecessary diesel train sat in Liverpool will be a shame. Is this a temporary issue whilst Liverpoll crews are trained on 805s?
