Just seen this tweet about Lympstone Commando

The MoD have confirmed to me in a FOI request that the station is open for the public to use and the signs are incorrect and are being changed. If you're visiting Lympstone Commando soon I'd recommend you save their response (attached) to your phone to show if needed.

We could do with a database or list of stations that used to be request stops? I know a lot of the Cumbrian Coast once was.

The maps on train state it but as previously mentioned other official sources do not mention it and Chiltern treat them as regular stops.

This is interesting, the public timetable on the WMT website makes no mention, there is no signage at Claverley to indicate it is a request stop and the station announcements there do not make it clear that you need to request the train to stop or that Bearley is a request stop.
As a result of a complete West Midlands customer service also stated that Bearley and Claverdon are NOT request stops.
So it would appear that the only official documentation this a request stop is on the crew diagrams and on train maps - if you can get on a train to see the map.

Yes. Only looked at an onboard map located above the internal doors ajd they do say Request Stop and the driver and Conductor diagrams definitely have HHRMM where H is hours and M is minutes with the R for request stop in the middle. The station announcements do state it. That said the internal roof PIS state request stop but the internal TV screen destination boards do not state request stop which has caused problems in the past. If you don't let us know or put your arm out most of us won't be stopping.

What compounds the issue for the unfamiliar with these two stations is that it's a single line with a single platform. The best example is if your awaiting for the 16:37 to Stratford Upon Avon and you don't indicate that you want the train to stop by looking at us and carrying on looking at a mobile phone screen or stay inside the waiting shelter. We are not stopping as quite legitimately we take it that they are awaiting the 16:44 to Leamington Spa. Think there may be a few other parts of the day where the trains in opposite directions are very close together.

erm - no they don't. there was no announcement about Bearley being a request stop at Claverdon, nor was there an announcement that you needed to indicate to the driver that the train needs to stop

We asked WMT about this today (for reasons unrelated to this thread), and were told Bearley and Claverdon are no longer request stops.

I spoke with a guard senior conductor last week when he was walking through the train before departing from Stratford checking tickets and asking if anybody wanted Bearley or Claverdon.
I told him that in the public timetable there was no longer any mention of them being request stops. He said that their running sheet (I can't remember what he actually called it), still had an R against the time for both stations. So clearly they're not just treating them as request stops because that's what they've always been, but rather because that is what they're told to do.
(In the event, we didn't stop at Bearley but did stop at Claverdon to pick up one passenger)
