Two RailAdventure HST powercars attending the gala according to SVR social media pages as well as the GWR HST set. Running on the Friday only and on static display on the weekend.
The GWR HST attending has had mixed opinions and a bit of a debate on here, but in my opinion (perhaps biased because GWR HSTs stop at my local station practically every hour), this is much better! Powercars which are retired from passenger duties as opposed to GWR powercars which I can ride behind whenever I like. Although I won’t be there on the Friday, that doesn’t change my opinion.

The GWR set attending is 43186 ‘Taunton Castle’, GW14 & 43188 ‘Newport Castle’ (one of the Welshman ones). The RailAdventure powercars attending are 43465 & 43484 :D

Just to be clear, the RailAdventure power cars run on Friday only, or the GWR HST?

The 58 not attending is a shame, that was an enormous draw to the event as I've yet to sample one. I don't recall ever seeing one in action in the flesh, on videos yes but I don't think I was really on the scene in time for them.

As for the fund, I was going to donate but I'm having to drastically cut my spending back this month. I've spent some serious cash in the last 7 weeks, and I have to get my cycles back on the road. One needs a service, the other needs a lot of new parts, and I can't afford either of those right now. Indeed, the new footwear is also being delayed! So until I sort all that out, the SVR may have to wait. My presence even on the Sunday of the gala may have to be cancelled at this rate, which is not going to be an easy decision I can tell you that much!

The RA ones will run Friday only, GWR set all 4 days.

Such is the cost of living crisis when you have to choose between food, heat and diesel gricing ;)

Thanks :) I think I had those RA ones when they were with GC.

Indeed. Trains are getting expensive, mind you cycling isn't that cheap either at times! It might come down to flagging the SVR in favour of a big session of furious pedalling. Much cheaper!

I just watched Highley's webcam with the departure timetabled for 1302 running about seven minutes late, but an (eight?) car train with what appeared to be very good loading. Not a sufficient sample, but quietly encouraging for a weekday.

You can also see the GWR HST awaiting the gala on Bewdley cam.

The just issued newsletter says the appeal has raised GBP230,000, up from GBP185,000 a bit more than a week ago.

A good start as this is just in one month, but a long way to go to reach the total.

Just under a sixth of the total so looking good for getting before Christmas.
Newsletter available via this link which also contains details of a solution to the GW door lock issue

Hello Folks, I'm not doing the gala itself as I can't afford it unfortunately, However I am looking for some suggestions for some lineside spots in the Kidderminster area if possible as I still want to go and view some of the traction which is on offer?

Thanks

I too am very disappointed with this timetable- I’m glad I haven’t booked three days in advance as I was planning to pay this on the day but the Sunday timetable is very limited - with so much running throughout the day it’s definitely a line side Paradise for photographers if the weather plays ball but when your paying a lot of money to bash - you really only get three return trips in the whole day

Not a great timetable for the Sunday! I'm out, not worth my money.
What would you prefer? Really the only difference over the other days is that it finishes earlier. Past experience has shown that late trains on a Sunday are poorly used.

Unfortunately due to present issues with the Great Western set, only 4 SVR sets are available for which affects the frequency that you can do. Of course there's the visiting Mark 3 set as well.

It’s a shame the HST isn’t doing the full length of the line is there any reason for this?
Ps/ what does the blue and yellow highlighted times mean? Connections?

Yellow train passes one other train, blue it will pass two trains.

Yeah I've got to be fair I've got my hotel booked and pre booked tickets for the gala, but the timetable is a shocker, I may have not bothered if I knew the situation. I fully agree with whats been said up thread

The HST not running through to Bridgnorth has put me off, one of the biggest draws that was for me, and the 88 doesn't seem to work anything that works with the earliest possible arrival by rail from Hereford. I'd have forgiven the HST only going to Arley, if I could have had the 56, 60 and 88. As it is, there's not enough on the Sunday (I'm working from mid-afternoon on all the other days) to encourage me to part with £34 plus the mainline fare etc.

Oh well never mind, I can happily spend my money on more productive things. Like fixing my cycles!

Is this possibly a case of too many visitors and therefore not enough work for each? At the very least you'd have thought there could be more top&tailing - I know double-heading isn’t particularly practical due to weight limits on under bridges etc.

They tend to have this many visitors, one or two will probably break down so they need plenty of numbers!
