Getting on/off a train for changing trains or entering/exiting a station. For completeness, if probably obvious, by stops I mean just being on a train that stops at a station where I don't get on or off (as was the case at Ilkeston last weekend).
Ah ok gotcha

So other than the photo stops (which I suspect for me is almost academic anyway, other than allowing me to include a couple of long-closed stations, as I've probably "properly" visited most photo stop stations subsequently), I think we two are singing from the same hymn sheet. At some point I'm going to have to bite the bullet and start chipping away at all those stations with minimum service where it's too far to walk comfortably to anywhere else. The fact that most of them are on the other side of the country so getting there and back in a day is a challenge in itself doesn't help....
Similarly I have mostly or fully revisited any 'photo stopped' stations. As for those with a lower service level, that's all part of the fun :) I do quite a few stupidly tight walks and connections to fit as many in as possible, like when I visited Ince and Stanlow last week - less than 20 minutes to do over a mile in pitch black darkness and if I'd missed it it would've been a taxi and much later getting home!

Either board or alight for me too, doesn't need to be both.
Continue journey by another service or another method of travel.

A nice weather day round here, so another trip to Kent, finishing the Swanley to Maidstone East section. Only eight more Southeastern stations to go now.

I'd been saving a few London zone stations for when SWR get their new trains but tired of waiting, I did them today.
That's all zone 1-10 stations complete now.

A good weather forecast prompted a walking/rail trip around Southampton.
A cancellation at Woolston put a spanner in the works on the first attempt, though I gained Romsey as a bonus. A late running train into SOU meant I didn't have time to walk to Millbrook, so missed that one.
I decided to extend the day, fitting in Woolston for a dinner break on the way back. A long day starting at 10:00 for the Network Railcard discount; back home 23:50.

Thought I'd head up to Merseyrail land, arriving via the Manchester to Southport line.
I was fortunate to get my last five Class 508s for haulage the first afternoon/evening, so that took the pressure of the next couple of days.

An evening trip to least used Stanlow & Thornton was fun.

I left a dozen to do on the Wirral and Northern lines for when they get new trains and headed off to the City line on day three.

Did you do the speedy walk between Stanlow & Ince as I did? :)
I thought about that; in the summer maybe.

My journey went like this:

arr Helsby 18:02
dep Helsby by bus 18:26, arr Elton 18:36
walk to Ince & Elton
dep Ince & Elton 18:57
arr Stanlow & Thornton 18:59 (train continues to Ellesmere Port and returns)
dep SNT 19:14
arr Helsby 19:20

Stanlow & Thornton has no platform lighting, only lights are from the over bridge between platforms.
Would be more enjoyable in daylight certainly.

A two hour round trip from Chester.

I wish I'd thought of doing it that way. If you or anyone else does do the walk, note it is more like a half run and is definitely preferable not in total darkness like when I did it. You also have to use a short path that doesn't show on Google maps between the two roads that cross :)

Where I had a muddy 12 mile round loop along the Lode to the Great Ouse around Barway before coming back via Kingfishers Bridge Nature Reserve & the village of Wicken. Better than arriving on the train from Ely, waiting 10 minutes for the next train back to Ely

Does Soham have a cafe or a hotel?

I've no other requirements anywhere near Soham apart from doing the Colchester Town branch so I'm tempted to hold off visiting until there's more reopenings in East Anglia.

I am itching to add a new scratched shack over Christmas unless Boris says something this week.

I would imagine there are cafes in the centre, with plenty of hotels in the general area

Rare possibly to have only used Corby on a through train, but was on a diverted MML service yesterday.

Did Arlesey, London Bridge, Waterloo East and Waterloo offend you enough thatyou had to wipe your original visits from your memory?
