no idea exactly but if I remember correctly the last one arrives in just after midnight, there are diagrams on message #747, from a quick read it seems to suggest the last service should come just after midnight, or at least before 1AM.Does anyone know what the last 455 service will be?
Many thanks
Some are, some aren't, there are also a lot of 12-car formations (377/4x3 or 377/1x3) and also some 8-car formations, but this is going off-topic!Most of the Class 377 metro services are of this formation.

Think Murray just meant in general.None of the metro services are 12 car, but yes, there are some 8 car services, but most are 10 car.
Impossible, otherwise you'll end up with 11 car when the 6 attaches to a 5, which won't fit at PurleySurely it is more likely to be a 377/3 + 377/3 + 377/3 formation.
Just thought it was interesting to point out, they run 12 car trains on SouthEastern metro routes in the peak. Usually on the Hayes and Dartford via Bexleyheath lines.None of the metro services are 12 car, but yes, there are some 8 car services, but most are 10 car.
I was referring to East Grinstead services because I misread it! Can't speak for metro services but from what I've seen its mostly 8 and 10 car.Think Murray just meant in general.
I was wondering where on earth you had seen a 12 car 377 on one of the metro services!I was referring to East Grinstead services because I misread it! Can't speak for metro services but from what I've seen its mostly 8 and 10 car.
Technically, the East Grinstead line is Metro. As is the Uckfield LineI was wondering where on earth you had seen a 12 car 377 on one of the metro services!
Really? On the Southern website in the timetable section, it classifies both as Southern Mainline services.Technically, the East Grinstead line is Metro. As is the Uckfield Line
Only for crewing purposes. It isn't a Metro route as such.Technically, the East Grinstead line is Metro. As is the Uckfield Line
Not really, East Grinstead to Victoria is nearly 30 miles, sometimes 12 coaches, reaches far far beyond London and is classified as an express train (despite the occasional stops at Selhurst and South Croydon).Technically, the East Grinstead line is Metro. As is the Uckfield Line
0025 from LB tonight is a class 377. 0025 from Vic is the last 455The 0025 doesn’t go to Penge West, it’s via Tulse Hill
The last 455 to Penge West tonight is booked to be 2340 LBG-East Croydon
delayed half an hour partly by late arrival (presumably for pathing) but also a passenger fainting.Tour was supposed to be off Blackfriars at 1642 but still seems to be in the platform
Indeed, seems to be a reoccurring theme
There also used to be a lot of twelve coach 377/3 + 377/3 + 377/3 + 377/3 formations on the East Grinstead line although i have not seen them since before the corona virus.no idea exactly but if I remember correctly the last one arrives in just after midnight, there are diagrams on message #747, from a quick read it seems to suggest the last service should come just after midnight, or at least before 1AM.

That was before the 10-car metro project was completed and before the May 2018 timetable change. Since then the 377/3s have been needed for 10-car operation (with a sideline on the Redhill to Tonbridge route). There also used to be a lot of twelve coach 377/3 + 377/3 + 377/3 + 377/3 formations on the East Grinstead line although i have not seen them since before the corona virus.
For those waiting for 2J76 00:25 LBG to Selhurst, I’m afraid this will now be worked by 377610 instead of a 455.
Yep that's true, was speaking a regular commuter of the 455s who was glad to see them be replaced, he said he much preferred the 377sFor the average passenger this will be a distinct improvement as the service will now have toilet facilities! There can’t be many non enthusiasts sad to see the back of these trains!
I am also a regular commuter, and the Class 377’s are head and heels above Class 455’s, with toilets, armrests, more standing area (in the 2+2 carriages at least), declassified first class, and 10 car formations.Yep that's true, was speaking a regular commuter of the 455s who was glad to see them be replaced, he said he much preferred the 377s
Haha yeah thought so! Yes Metro can turn out anything from 3 - 10 cars, some formations obviously rarer than othersI was referring to East Grinstead services because I misread it! Can't speak for metro services but from what I've seen its mostly 8 and 10 car.
Mhm it's quite an improvement, still think with a refurbishment the 455s would have been suitable trains for those routes. Shame to see them go...I am also a regular commuter, and the Class 377’s are head and heels above Class 455’s, with toilets, armrests, more standing area (in the 2+2 carriages at least), declassified first class, and 10 car formations.

True but they've managed to install them on other trains, also lots of the stations they serve have toilets on the platform so I guess they may not have been needed as muchFitting toilets I doubt would have been easy!
Do those running the website really know what they're talking about?Really? On the Southern website in the timetable section, it classifies both as Southern Mainline services.
I saw 815 and 840 today, went on 840 to West Croydon but they weren't coupled then so I guess later on they were. 840 was one of the ones with the farewell posters put up around insideLooks like 815+840 are the last ever double set in revenue earning service AFAIK, rode to Clapham and now heading back in on 845. Been a good day, thanks for the help with gen and to the people I met along the way, some of you who I'm guessing are probably on here??
804 and 818 just departed on the 2340 from Victoria to SuttonI saw 815 and 840 today, went on 840 to West Croydon but they weren't coupled then so I guess later on they were. 840 was one of the ones with the farewell posters put up around inside
