There are a few knocking around Horsham now. 455817 and 5820 are in the sidings beside the station, whilst 5812 and 5844 lead the sets in the down sidings.
There are some 8 455s at Horsham currently. As well as those mentioned above, 5812, 5844 & 5801 are in the sidings at the London end if the station plus some other sets I was not able to identify. There are a few knocking around Horsham now. 455817 and 5820 are in the sidings beside the station, whilst 5812 and 5844 lead the sets in the down sidings.

It would be a sad sight but i want to see pics of a 455 going through the scrapping process. Im sure someone will post some up eventually455838, 455839, 455810, 455825, 455827, 455831
That’s just from reading through this thread having searched for “Newport”.

Thanks - I didn't think there were ay more London Bridge - Vic services anymore? I know there are two M-F peak Vic - London Bridge ones but haven't spotted any othersCurrent update on train formations:

High security? Hopefully there will be 1 sneaky pic takenUnlikely, virtually no pics of anything being scrapped at Newport as far as I know.......might have seen the odd one of a 442 & 143 there but that's all
HTH
Not so much that but rather the speed that Newport process everything. It’s not uncommon for stuff to be completely shredded less than 24 hours after arriving there.High security? Hopefully there will be 1 sneaky pic taken
I’m not so surprised about the gas axe coming out for the 91s given the amount of thicker and heavier metal in those than say an EMU. It seems the way most stock gets scrapped at Newport is with a bulldozer and grabber. Tip it on its side, free the bogies, then grab and crush. It’s quick, cruel and unfortunately in Newports eyes, quite efficient. Whereas say, Booths take a lot longer as they may strip out a vehicle first, everything at Newport is left to the shredder. Not so much that but rather the speed that Newport process everything. It’s not uncommon for stuff to be completely shredded less than 24 hours after arriving there.
Photos do occasionally make it out, most commonly on the paid section of WNXX. I’ve seen photos of 143s, 442s and 91s all being scrapped there, the latter done the old fashioned way with a gas axe!
Looks like also one of the am peak East Grinstead services is reduced from 12 to 8 car, with the reinstatement of the TL service to help mitigate that.Current update on train formations:

I was shocked that the flame cuts of 455825 were available on the tour considering it had only arrived at Sims on Tuesday. It was scrapped the very next day which shows how quickly Newport dispose of units which is sad from an enthusiasts point of view. Not so much that but rather the speed that Newport process everything. Is anyone familiar with the process of scrapping a train? I assume they recycle as much metal as possible but what about all the other stuff? Just landfill?
Interesting that the newer build Electrostars now dominate the route via South Bermondsey, as there weren’t any booked there before, it was all 455 & 377 Mk1. I see they’ve swapped with the classic 377s on the Caterham/Tattenham fast services.Current update on train formations:

You are correct, I just thought it would be interesting to point those services out as well. Thanks - I didn't think there were ay more London Bridge - Vic services anymore? I know there are two M-F peak Vic - London Bridge ones but haven't spotted any others
I feel like reducing from 8 coaches to 5 will cause some overcrowding problems, especially on the Beckenham Junction route which only receives a train every hour. I also can't imagine a 4 coach train on the Clapham to Watford route doing wonders either.Interesting that the newer build Electrostars now dominate the route via South Bermondsey, as there weren’t any booked there before, it was all 455 & 377 Mk1. I had a mini farewell early Saturday morning. Did 5804 Victoria to Epsom Downs and back to West Croydon for 5815 up to Victoria. Very friendly driver on 5804, we had a chat at Epsom Downs. 5815 has always stood out since I rode on it from Redhill to Horsham on a snowy Saturday 26 years ago so I'm glad it turned out to be my last ride.Had a go on 455807, 814, 822, 836, 840 and 843 on the last day and 818+832 on Friday night. While 818 and 832 were both rather rough, jerky riders, the others were generally in decent fettle.
I won't pretend to be a fan of the 455s but it's still a real shame to see them go. Not a lot of variety on the Southern lines now, and even less once the 313s follow suit.
Saw 455801, 812, 820, 826, 844 and another stabled at Horsham today, while the aforementioned 814+822+836 12 car for Hove passed me near Wandsworth earlier.

I went on a 5 car class 377 yesterday and it didn’t have many passengers, albeit it was 10 at night.I’m assuming everything went well yesterday with a solely 377 Metro?
No idea on units but ex Europe 66793 is the locoHi does anybody know which 455s are off to Newport sims tomorrow Tue and the one Thursday thanks
Thankyou for replyNo idea on units but ex Europe 66793 is the loco

And Thursday is 835/841?Today 809/816
As others have said 5 cars on peak trains into and out of London Bridge are a problem. Rammed. Also the 4 car on Watfords too.I’m assuming everything went well yesterday with a solely 377 Metro?
Very sadly. This is the thing to come.As others have said 5 cars on peak trains into and out of London Bridge are a problem. Rammed. Also the 4 car on Watfords too.
