Not seen the book myself, although have been messaged a list of all the new vehicles and where they're intended for. However would assume TfGM owned 84201-50 would also be a similar arrangement.....
If you are allowed would you mind posting that list please? :)

Midlands' Yutongs (ZEBRA 2 batch of 27) are the other way round - 25 E12s and 2 E10s.

Guessing the "HFC" in E400HFC is hydrogen fuel-cell, referring to the E400FCEVs nobody on that list ordered.

With reference to #92 above, Stockton is receiving 64 electric vehicles, not 40. As noted in the press release below (released after the Stagecoach 2025 handbook was printed), they will arrive from February 2025. It was reported in the Stagecoach North East section of www.northeastbuses.co.uk that the 18 for Slatyford were going to Stockton instead. Sorry, I can't find the relevant post at the moment.

Unfortunately, the Tees Valley Combined Authority is running a competition which could see all 64 electric buses named.

Tees Valley Youngsters To Name and Decorate New Electric Bus Fleet

Tees Valley Combined Authority | Published on: 18th November 2024

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen and Stagecoach North East have today launched an exciting new competition for children to name and decorate a new fleet of zero-emission electric buses.
Youngsters aged 11 and under to are being called on to submit name suggestions for the fleet and showcase their artistic talents by drawing their own zebra design for each bus.
The chosen 64 zebra drawings will be showcased on the new buses, giving young artists the opportunity to see their work travelling throughout the Tees Valley.
Winners will also receive a prize package including free bus travel for a month, a goodie bag and framed picture of their winning image.
The chosen names will also appear on the buses, allowing the children to leave a lasting mark on this new fleet and be a part of this significant investment towards sustainability.
The 64 new buses will arrive from February 2025 and see Stagecoach’s Stockton site become the largest fully electric depot in the North East.
The introduction of the new fleet follows the awarding of UK Government funding to Tees Valley Combined Authority and bus operators through the Zero Emission Bus Regional Area (ZEBRA) scheme.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen. “We all know our children have the best ideas when it comes to choosing names and producing fantastic artwork so we want them to take charge on this great, green zero-emission fleet of buses.
“We want our youngest residents to play a part in shaping our new fleet. By giving each bus a unique name and decorating them with students’ artwork, we’re bringing a sense of local pride and creativity to our bus network.
“Not only is this a fun and engaging way to spark creativity, but it also fosters a connection to our local community. I encourage parents, teachers, and schools across the region to get involved and support their students in making their mark on the region’s transportation.”
Steve Walker, MD of Stagecoach North East, said: “It’s an exciting time for the business, and the Tees Valley area, to receive such a large-scale investment in the bus infrastructure.
“Delivering a fully electric depot, with a fully electric fleet, will not only benefit the bus users of Stockton and the surrounding area, but the wider community. Linking the investment to the community was a must, and we all know that kids have the best ideas, so using the creativity of the young people in the area was a key place to start with our community engagement.”
The competition is open to Tees Valley residents aged 11 and under. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, 15th December 2024. For postal entries, submissions should arrive at Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) offices by Friday, 13th December 2024.
Each entry should include the child’s name, age, and a contact email address (school email addresses are acceptable). Both a bus name suggestion and zebra drawing are required for a valid entry.
All completed entries must to be sent FAO The Bus Team, either via email to [email protected], or posted directly to TVCA, Teesside International Airport, Teesside Airport Business Suite, Darlington, DL2 1NJ.

I've seen no official confirmation that Slatyford is not getting their Yutongs. Either way, converting all of Stockton perhaps makes sense when two-thirds of the allocation was being done anyway...

The extra vehicles for Stockton are in addition to those for Slatyford, Stagecoach have ordered them with their own cash - cheeky of Houchen to try taking credit for them but hardly surprising.
Slatyford isn’t ready for any sizeable EV fleet so what’s likely to happen is the publicly funded vehicles all end up at Stockton and Sunderland whilst Slatyford gets the privately funded vehicles that’ll arrive later.

If Stagecoach have indeed purchased extra BEVs without subsidy, that is notable. Another post from the NEB forum describes Stockton's share as 44 through ZEBRA2 + 20 extras, implying the former allocation is 4 more than previously determined.

I assume you mean this NEB post from 6 weeks ago (thread continues for 5/6 pages beyond it, so worth a read). Any change in subsidy allocations would have to be declared in combined authority papers at some point, though perhaps not quite this soon.

Indeed—so far, not too many have. Lothian bought the 50 BZLs currently (slowly!) arriving without subsidy, NatEx West Midlands has ordered at least some of their electric deckers without subsidy, as I recall, while First has also dipped its toe in the water with the recent order for 35 Wright StreetDeck Electroliners (24 for Aberdeen, 11 for Glasgow).

Does the funding tie the operator in to anything, for example retaining the vehicle in the area for so many years? I'm thinking one advantage of not relying on subsidy would be that there is more flexibility to move buses around, not that this applies to all the examples you gave.

There generally seems to be a requirement to keep vehicles in the area they are funded by for five years minimum, as far as I'm aware.

Thanks, that makes sense. I do wonder how it's going to work in Sheffield however, if SYMCA do franchise the cross border services in to Chesterfield that some of these buses will be running.

Presumably those routes will transfer over to depots in Sheffield that SYMCA control rather than Chesterfield or Baslow so will be resourced from a different fleet.

The Sheffield routes that Chesterfield operate use around 26 vehicles (28 if you count the 65).

Chesterfield depot will be mostly nothing without these...

Generally routes from out of the region will be worked on permits (like London and now Manchester do). The Chesterfield routes are run from a Derbyshire depot (and the ZEBRA funding was received via Derbyshire CC). So nothing should change.

Anything up to 10'6" (3200mm is, importantly, marginally shorter than that) is allowed.

It would explain why neither ADL nor Yutong were chosen to manufacture Exeter's 20-bus share of the ZEBRA2 allocation.

So Exeter only had a 20 bus allocation of the ZEBRA 2 funding? I certainly don't think Exeter needs any more midibuses, as the allocation specifically covers routes 4, A, and C. As I have said, the C needs carefully chosen large single deckers. The 4 and A use double-deckers when they can, though I think the A would require low height double-deckers.

As it is, these and other Exeter services appear to be using Enviro 200 midibuses and sometimes Solos because of a shortage of large buses.

Thanks for that list. I presume the ADL single-deckers for Barnstaple and Torquay will be for town routes in Torquay, Barnstaple and Paignton but what routes, other than the 21/21A/21B would see the deckers for Barnstaple? I wouldn't have thought the 21/21A/21B would have a combined PVR of 21 but perhaps I am wrong. And likewise for Torquay so I guess that some of the Torquay 400s will end up on, for example, Service 2 between Newton Abbot and Exeter?

It would be good if SYMCA could confirm this as part of their consultation though. As it stands it's all very vague.

That's also not to mention the subject of fares and whether a period ticket will be available that covers both Chesterfield and Sheffield as one currently does.
