During the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, Cheshunt and Waltham Cross stations were the main access point for the Broxbourne Whitewater Canoe and Kayak Slalom events.
Prior to electrification in 1969, train services at Waltham Cross were operated by Class 125 'Lea Valley' diesel-hydraulic DMUs.
Following electrification, the Class 125 units were transferred to ECML suburban services out of King's Cross stopping, among other places, at Finsbury Park.

One of these is Whitechapel (ZLW), another is ZFD - Farringdon.
Shrewsbury used to have a direct service to Marylebone; the London terminus that now serves it is, instead, Euston.
Likewise, for Palmers Green, the terminus first served was Kings Cross, but now it is Moorgate.
