From the title of the thread I guessed this was about trains taking on water. Can that be done anywhere? Or just in the depot. I'm sure I've seen small tanker trailers on a platform somewhere.

Makes you think a simple tap would have been a much more reliable solution...

I assume that the revenue from the 'value added' services (such as flavoured water, or chilled, or so on) is what pays for the original installation and the ability to offer tap water free - presumably a company runs it on behalf of the station owner.

Majority only offer free tap water though.

Manchester Picc has two: one by the toilets in the main concourse opposite platforms 11/12 (though was out of order last time I checked) and one in the platform 13/14 satellite lounge.

Stoke on Trent has one on platform 1, towards the Stafford direction of the building near the coffee shops

At Manchester Piccadilly are there also refill points on Platform 1? I feel like I have seen something that looks like refill points along that wall - but not 100% sure.

WCRC's tours take on water at Bristol TM from tanks on wheels on the platform.

A shame about Euston's as it hasn't been working for some time.

Avanti installed a water refill point (chilled and very refreshing) at Stafford last month.

Leeds has two I can think of. One on platform 8 near gents toilets and the other on the bridge, next to the ticket booth which is tucked away in the corner.
The one on platform 8 was always useful when doing a long journey on 1S51 (as a HST) if you didn’t stack up on enough before you got on

At Hampton Court Station, I discovered today that for 20 pence you can fill up your bottle with ‘pure’ water. I did not investigate to see how this differed from standard tap water though.

No one has mentioned Guildford yet. I can't remember its location but think it might be Platform 2.

I can't remember about Woking.

It would be useful if this information was on National Rail Enquiries for each station but it's probably considered a nice to have and there isn't any time or money to add it.

Although saying this, currently I can't get the National Rail Enquiries Android app to download any station information.

Must also apologise for creating a new thread earlier on this. I do usually check but I was busy and didn't.

Made good use of the Starbucks at St Pancras and Costa at Edinburgh Waverley

They still haven't fixed Edinburghs two refill points, and same for Eustons one.

Atleast they let me refill my bottles for free in those shops.

They've finally fixed the one on the main concourse at least. Just used it!

Fantastic news, I'll look forward to using it soon :)

I can't remember right now if it's been mentioned, but there's a refill point in the waiting room on platforms 2/3 at Coventry. My bottles were full or close to it, so I didn't try it out.

Penrith has now had one installed. Unsure how long its been there as I don't normally head to that station.

There's one at Llandudno. I think it's inside the waiting room / ticket office bit, which closes by 3pm, so like the station toilets it won't be accessible after this time.

If there’s a 20p surcharge for pure water at Hampton Court what do you get if you don’t pay the surcharge? Straight out of the Thames?

Water dispensing machines have now been installed at Broxbourne, Cambridge North, Cheshunt, Great Yarmouth, Harlow Town, Hertford East, Lowestoft, Marks Tey, Rochford and Waltham Cross, along with an additional one at Colchester.

Greater Anglia has invested more than £65,000 in this project which increase the number of stations on its network with water fountains to 22, with the facility already in place at Billericay, Bishops Stortford, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, Ely, Ipswich, Norwich, Tottenham Hale, Shenfield, South Woodham Ferrers, Wickford and Witham. Network Rail have also installed one at London Liverpool Street.

Although the couple I have seen recently have been out of service since Christmas.

I'm not sure there actually is one at Levenshulme or Cheadle Hulme.

There is, however, one at Stockport - it's in the waiting room halfway along platform 2.

Thanks to @infobleep, @Lucy1501, @cheekybifta and @Ashfordian6 for more stations, of which I've added them to the TLDR list above. @py_megapixel, I've added Stockport but post #28 links a Northern news article that highlights the installation of water refills at Levenshulme as well as the inclusion of Cheadle.

The ones I know very certain of the locations are Waterloo, Victoria, Southampton Central and Clapham Junction. If anyone knows the exact locations for the above unfilled station list, we would all be very grateful!

Next time I am at a station, probably Newcastle I'll take a picture and upload it here showing the exact position.

Perhaps others will follow and we'll all get to know the locations.

I'd never heard of the Refill app mentioned previously .. might give it a try, although some reviews aren't too good
