Thread wandering - but say Treherbert to Ramsgate would have been a very long day out.There were a number of Mystery Excursions originating from Carlisle in the 1980s (pick-ups at Penrith, Oxenholme and Lancaster) that made it out and back to the likes of Paignton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Dover and Canterbury with a few hours to explore before returning home. Never the same loco throughout but certainly some long day trips!
Anyway - 33's to Blackpool above - very much doubt it , the SR always swopped at Mitre Bridge in those days , though they never minded 47's onto their turf.....
