5736 and 5704 have both been out of miles for several months so this is not unexpected.

However what is worth mentioning is unlike other storage movements.
The whole ten Carriages not only looked in excellent condition and well looked after. Also retained unit by unit complete southwest railways company branding on the side.

One had 10,000 left and the other 20,000 left but had issues meaning it’s not worth doing, eg you wouldn’t put a traction motor on a unit for one months mileage left on it. If they were out of miles, a safety of the line exam needs to be undertaken.

I saw that as I passed Wimbledon Depot at 1050…456 on the back…Was it 456003 as I saw that beforehand? (Now confirmed)
455 behind the 37…Not sure if it was 6 8 or 10 cars….With 37800 leading.
Passed again an hour later and nowhere to be seen.
Was trying to think how it would be done to get round to Kensington and was pretty sure it could get through the yard at Clapham, although it's probably never that I've done a move like that.

A few updates:

455863 has been out of use for over a month (15/12/21) and is now the only 455 listed as Operational that has not worked in 2022.

458518 returned to service on 10th Jan (#307) and was out yesterday paired with 458532 on 0724 Reading - Waterloo.
458509 has been out of use for over a month (16/12/21) and is now the only 458 listed as Operational that has not worked in 2022.

Great list thanks, but I've seen three 456's today all live…Coupled to 455's…Two sets in Clapham Yard and one in Wimbledon.
They were 6 cars in clapped out yard.(Clapham Yard)

I thought the remaining 707's had a reprieve till August.
5863 my fatality unit.

I see swr444 has the same info regarding 707's also.Apologies.

Yes, not in service. They’re withdrawn from service.
I will amend the error of the Long Marston 456 and 707 dates, sorry.

We need the 456's back in service a passenger fainted at Clapham Junction yesterday morning due to the service being short formed and overcrowded!

There were no Short forms yesterday am. The new timetable may have different formations but there were no short forms reported.

I guess from a 10-car pre-COVID baseline with all the platform extensions done etc. then everything that isn’t a 707 is now short formed. (Yes, I know there were only ever 24 456s so not everything could be 10-car)

Stuck on Windsor side two days and saw the failure at Virginia Water.
456004 is in the yard at Clapham on its own but still live.

Southwest railways have decided to take them off lease first. Most likely via the dft department off transport to save money. It will never happen but let's hope commuters return and the summer is very busy including extras visiting the commonwealth games who want to go out and about London area as well.
To return a few to traffic.
