There is a story in York about a disabled activist moaning about the new York Electric buses not having the disability innovations that the Manchester ones do. Does anyone have a link to the spec of the new Manchester buses, particularly about the disability features? Thanks

Maybe this:-

They have been designed with two wheelchair bays, plus hearing induction loops, and audio and visual announcement systems.

Anything in for repaint this week?

On another note, been a few route learning vehicles going up past my house in Bromley Cross Bolton this week, yesterday was a Bee Citaro, only caught the back end so presumed it was Diamond 33028 but today a Stagecoach E200 trundled past. Odd as both the 533/541 routes will be run by Diamond come September.
30501 into Preston livery sadly...

40780 has been away for painting whilst I was off, that came back this morning and is now in use, fully lettered up.

24 days to go as of tomorrow... the count down is on!!!

Time is definitely ticking.

Really surprised with 30501 going to Preston.

40785 has returned from Blackburn and is currently being stickered up in the paintshop.

Add 40800 to that too, from Birmingham, although she was somewhat ill upon returning. I don't think Streetdecks appreciate being hammered up a motorway... :|

Thanks for the updates Leyland

Have they got a plan for 40700 yet is it going Bee Network or being kept as a charity bus

Unless plans have changed, 40700 is transferring to Go North West so will be repainted at some point... Will more than likely be one of our first repaints under GNW as the livery is associated with Rotala/Diamond so will need removing.

9 Preston bus vehicles will transfer to Diamond Bus North West with 9 DBNW buses going in to Preston.

5 Streetlite minis, 2 Streetdecks and 2 Volvo B9s will be going to Manchester in exchange for 9 other vehicles.

Update on the fleet, I thought I'd post shots of the new radios currently being installed for those that are interested.

These are supposed to link in to a central server (ala Metrocomms of the past) and will most likely be more like the London system once everything is under one roof so to speak...

To add to the confusion there are two 'Bee Network' pages

Bee Network - Bustimes.org

One for Stagecoach and one for Vision Bus

They'll be the school bus franchises. The Vision Bus page lists school services and the individual route pages (e.g. the 955) says "A bus service operated by Bee Network and Vision Bus" at the top.

Stagecoach have a couple of Bee Network branded buses floating around - presumably painted for the school services?

I could well be wrong based on bustimes.org - most of them are currently being used on various general services.

Have any of the electric buses arrived in The Bolton / Wigan areas yet?

Is there a timeline for introduction and what services will be operated by the full EVs?

Incidentally there is a rumour on the anti Andy Burnham Facebook groups that diesel gensets have been installed at Bolton to Charge the EVs, a non specific photo of some gensets being unloaded is posted that is claimed to be Bolton Weston Syn depot.

All the EVs are stored at the large depot at Wigan but will operate from Bolton depot which is the only depot so far having the charging infrastructure installed.
Theses EVs buses should start operation of them will commence on 23 Sep as Bee Network tranche 1 commences. Manchester- Bolton services 8, 36 and 37 should see them in use.

The generators are i think oil powered https://www.brunogenerators.it/1500-1800-rpm-2/series-fusteq/. A comment on Facebook states that "This has been delivered while they test all equipment and to safeguard against any outages of electricity. Just a precaution." Having a back up system during the launch period makes sense.

Back to a yellow repaint (finally) and possibly the last one under Rotala stewardship...

Engine less 40781 was pushed into our bay this morning for prepping and painting will commence on Monday.

The whole garage is essentially being gutted out from top to bottom over this 3 week period, so as we had no paint bus, we joined in and gutted the paintshop! Lol! Anything that comes back from spray shops is, I believe, the last of them under the present regime.

A shock return this morning is of Streetdeck 40761, complete with new roof, from Ballymena. It was painted yellow at the factory albeit missing some of the black accents...

Vantage:
39249 now back from paint, 39259 has gone to Reads in its place.

Just three serviceable purple ones left now, 39241, 39246 & 39260.

Had a trip to Manchester and Bury yesterday to have a look and see some of the new painted buses. They are certainly noticeable around and about and also saw one of the ex London MCV bodied B5's in yellow. but sadly no pic.
Some pics of the visit here for those who maybe interested...

Two weeks to go!
At this stage do we know the fleet allocations at each depot? Don’t mean the list of vehicles DBNW are selling but what actual vehicles will be allocated to:
Go North West - Bolton
Go North West - Wigan
Diamond NW - Bolton
Diamond NW - Eccles

I was trying to work out the initial fleet for the Go NW operations in Wigan and Bolton. PVR for each depot has been previously reported at 74 (Wigan) and 192 (Bolton) which suggests a total fleet of around 300 including spares. I have the following as heading for Wigan or Bolton but please correct me where I am wrong

Double deck
50 x ADL Enviro City EV (new - Go NW fleetnumbers 2001-2050)
8 x ADL Enviro 400 (3111-18 - ex London)
20 x Volvo B9TL / Wright Gemini (ex London - 3271-90)
2 x Volvo B5TL / Wright Gemini (ex Go NE 3301-02)
8 x Volvo B7TL / Wright Gemini (ex East Yorkshire 3351-58)
25 x Volvo B5LH / Wright Streetdeck (ex First 39237-61)
101 x Volvo B5LH / Wright Streetdeck (ex Rotala)
13 x Scania / Omnicity (ex RATP London 3601-13)

Single deck & minibus
21 x Mercedes Benz / Citaro (ex Rotala)
9 x Mercedes Benz / Citaro (ex Go NE 6224 -32)
10 x Enviro 200 (ex Rotala)
8 x Enviro 200 (ex London - 4023 - 30)
1 x Enviro 200 (5101)
2 x Volvo B7RLE / Wright Eclipse (ex Xelabus 6177-78)
1 x Volvo B7RLE / Wright Eclipse (ex Rotala)
3 x Optare Solo (ex Go NE 5053-55)
1 x Optare Solo (ex Rotala)

Total 283, so I must have missed something.

101 Streetdecks from Rotala are Wright integral ones, not B5LHs.

Some of the Go NorthWest B5LHs with MCV bodies have been painted yellow to run on the guided busway but unsure how many are coming across...

I am not sure what the fleet breakdown is specifically, however a Go North West ex London Enviro E400 was delivered during the week to Wigan and staff have been told that its being allocated their, also the loaned is a Go North East StreetDeck, has been at Wigan this week that is used for driver familiarisation, so presumably some StreetDecks will transfer from Bolton to Wigan, freed up by the large fleet of BYD/ADL City E400 going into Bolton. I still don't think there are enough saloons yet as it was reported previously somewhere the a batch of ADL E200MMC's was being transferred up for use at Wigan from Go South Coast but this doesn't yet appear to have happened and news on this has gone quite. Heywood depot is only temporary and is expected to close on 23rd September 2023 with staff, routes and vehicles moving to Bolton Weston Street which will have a run out of 192 vehicles and an allocation of 200+ vehicles. There are quoted as being 3 Volvo B5TL MCV for use on Vantage Services but so far only two have been repainted to Yellow. However I still reel there is a shortage of saloons especially for Wigan which plus Arriva routes to Chorley have a heavy saloon requirement currently, unless the 362 and 1-4 are being converted to decker?

In terms of Diamond a number of vehicles are being transferred in from around the group, as well as the remaining vehicles from Diamond North West that are not transferring to Go North West. Bolton Goodwin Street/Folds Road Allocation will be a number of ex FirstGroup Streetlites plus the existing training fleet as far as I am aware.

Stagecoach is retaining it all, and its all being distributed around other fleets but I don't know what is going where, but a fair assumption might be that the Dual Purpose Enviro E400MMC's would go to a rural fleet
