Yeah, unfortunately at Stow the last Edinburgh service left just as we arrived, so we got thwarted!

We shall return in the morning then for the 0602 ScotRail service 2T53 to Newcraighall, arriving there at 0643 on Friday morning.

We leave the eailway station and take the six minute walk to the bus stop before Newcraighall Drive and there board the 0701 Lothian Buses service 30 to Wester Hailes (Westside Plaza on Murrayburn Road) that arrives there at 0804 on Friday morning.

We walk the 6 minutes (0.3 mile) to Wester Hailes station. We await 2Y45, Scotrail's 0835 service to Glasgow Central, which we take as far as Shotts where we arrive at 0909 on Friday.

We take the eight minute walk to the bus stop on Peel Street and there board the 1837 First in Greater Manchester service 184 to Diggle (the bus stop opposite Sunfield Lane on Huddersfield Road) that arrives there at 1913 on Friday evening.

What a fascinating place Diggle is for (a lack of) public transport...

• Service 356 no longer serves Diggle, even though the Transport for Greater Manchester map for the Oldham area says it does. So we can't use that.
• LocalLink Saddleworth & Mossley only runs until 7am to 6pm, so we can't use that.
• Diggle sits on a main railway line, but its station closed in 1968, so we can't use that.
• That leaves only bus 184, but the nearest eastbound stop for this bus route is 0.8 mile away at Navigation Inn, so we can't use that.

Therefore our only option (literally!) is to stay at this bus stop and await the next westbound First Greater Manchester service 184. This departs at 2011 and we take it to Oldham (Greenacres Cemetery) where we alight at 2038 on Friday.

We take the ten minute walk to the bus stop near Balfour Street on Lees Road and there board the 2057 First in Greater Manchester service 84 to Uppermill (Commercial Hotel on High Street) that arrives there at 2113 on Friday evening.
