The "Pretendolino" Mk3 set (110 and poor acceleration) only typically lost 2-3 minutes between Euston and MKC on 390 timings, if that is any help.
Ah, so only for that 'short' section. I'd imagine the gap will widen the greater the distance.

MK is half way between London and Brum, so worst case that's 6 minutes. The 80x's superior acceleration will reduce that a bit, too.
Not to mention quicker dispatches with sliding doors that could, if they got the agreement from the unions be operated by the driver only, reducing dwell times.

Also the pocket doors on the 80Xs are quicker to open and close than the combination of plug doors and retractable steps in the Pendolinos.

I was more referring to however far north they end up going.
Not past Weaver Jn on the WCML proper. Some of the earlier modelling I was shown with the non tilt line speed increases had them 2 minutes slower to Rugby with a MK call. All could have changed since.

If it's that close in speed to the Pendolino's, I'll eat my hat. The IETs might have acceleration, but the Pendolino has momentum. Only thing that stops it at 125 is stations (which includes stations entrances and exits just so we are clear).
Also line speed maximum is 125 with or without stations !

Not true - checking older threads when the Pretendolino was in use, it struggled to get to Birmingham less than 10 mins later than a Pendo. So it's not a "straight line" of having lost "x" time at the halfway point it will lose the same again.

A non-tilting Voyager or Pendolino would lose around 5 minutes on Euston-Birmingham, often still arriving on time though with a good run from International as opposed to catching up the stopper halfway.
