Perhaps it might be best to rename the thread “Transfer of WM 323s to Northern” now? :)

All 323s show as Northern livery on RTT, even if they're not. 242 is still in WMT iirc.
I have been reporting on the ex-WM 323's ever since the first one (208) left for Northern in Oct 2023.
As far as I know there are nine in the North still in the anonymised WM 'Gold' livery - 202 206 207 209 218 219 241 242 and 243.
As it seems to take three weeks at Wolverton for a unit to be painted, and they only seem capable of doing one unit at a time, then it could take another six months before they're all done.

Although RTT is good at telling you which unit is allocated to a particular service, it's no good for working out which one's are still in 'Gold'.

There's two units in at a time, currently 323212 (arr 07.12) and 323210 (arr 21.12).

Yes, the KYT images have never been something to rely on. Until about a year ago, most TfW images were about 2 years out of date.

Aren't just 210 and 212 at Wolverton? When did 209 head there?

I was on 207 on Saturday for Crewe-Alderley Edge. It was nice to be on an old friend.

On Board 323205 Today, Anyone know whether the budget for the Seat Coverings and interior repaint will be happening soon? One of the ticket inspector's mentioned it will be starting from next month but will be very gradual, wondered if it might have already began at Wolverton. WMR has a very cosy looking interior, while northern is more modern and clean looking.

I believe only one unit is done to allow spares for WMR fixtures (ie seat covers) to be kept spare

Short answer is the refresh work could start soon (it has to be completed before Jan 26) along with some other stuff but I'm unaware of full scope.

Hopefully not - makes it more interesting!

Northern seem to be struggling with 323 availability? Two units dropped over the weekend... today, only 15 units out of a potential of 29? Any one know any gen?

Aren't most of the units waiting on staff training before further utilization?

That argument is a bit weak surely. A lot of single 323s out on booked six car diagrams. We aren’t expecting more diagrams before the Victoria based staff are trained but we do expect Northern to have enough 323s active to avoid regular short forming.

Thank God it's only January and not Blackpool tourism season

Still, those trains are also popular with Manchester commuters, especially Tuesday to Thursday.
