Swift is currently outstationed in Ashbourne somewhere, so will the additional PVR (peak vehicle requirement) be based there or Derby?
Also, would extending to Leek be viable?
A Leek extension has been tried before and unfortunately it didn't work

From what we have been told is that there are going to be more Derby based duties as there is only one at the moment. I would suspect they will be based at Derby but I can see them all being based at Ashbourne to keep it simple. Thing is the council literally told us on so very short notice that we were doing this increase for the swift so its a bit last min

Can the Ashbourne outstation even store more buses than it has? I thought it was tight in there

The current route 108 Leek - Ashbourne has 4 journeys 2 of which extend to Buxton ( 3 journeys on Saturdays) & i think is tendered by the County Council which tells you all you need to know about that route

Even back to the days when it was 201 Manchester - Derby that route only had 5 daily through journeys & was tendered by Cheshire & Derbyshire County Councils

Do they still use that yard in Stramshall?
I thought all Trentbarton buses were kept in the industrial unit near the bypass. I know the old Stevenson's yard at Spath is used by Notts and Derby, to park JCB buses during the week, between duties.

That's where I mean. They also stabled a Swift there overnight but I might be talking too far back now as it might not be the case anymore.

I think Langley Park is one of the new housing developments at the top end of Mickleover, will be interesting to see to what extent it deviates from A52.
Langley Park is the estate on the far side of Radbourne Lane. Another 1000 houses are to be built from end of this year, and I suspect there will be more ..I'm sure I heard something about a bus from Ashbourne going via Mickleover and the Royal Hospital though

There has been talk of that in the past, as an additional version of mickleover. I guess the short Derby to Ashbourne journey could do that.

Or it could be that all journies go down Radbourne Lane, turn round on new(ish) estate and go back.

But when you think of all those houses on the left at the top of Station Road too. I can imagine big queues to get over the A38 with all the extra housing

The old Derby - Ashbourne route (when it was route 107) was along Radbourne Lane and then continued to rejoin the A52 at Kirk Langley - but either way will add some time to the Ashbourne journey

There is supposed to be bus funding from the developer of the estate at the end of Station Road in Mickleover that the local councillors have been trying to get spent for 2 years, but that should include a bus to Mickleover village so a diverted Swift wouldn't help that

You might make that time up, by not serving that estate in Ashbourne

They have extended some to Leek (Sundays) in the past, pre COVID.

That's popular from when I have ridden the Swift. It doesn't add too much journey time, given the majority of passengers ride either Uttoxeter- Ashbourne or Ashbourne/Mayfield to Derby.

So, if the peak vehicle requirement for the Ilkeston Flyer increases from 6 to 8, what provides the extra two vehicles. Two of the red spares, two of the Mango spares from the batch of six spares? Maybe even repainted before they have entered service. Failing that, take Mango spares 176 and 177 and Sutton get some lovely red Versas.

Presumably two of the what would of been spare vehicles will be branded.

There will be 8 branded ADLs numbered 306-313. There are still two spares

480 has appeared on red arrow today, can’t actually remember the last time a Solo worked this route.
There's a policy against it, so basically never, although I know it's happened at least once before

It kept to time well as well, but has now been taken off. I wonder if whoever is in charge of allocating buses during the day was very keen and didn't know about the policy, and someone noticed and took it off

Whats this policy? I had a look on flickr and there was a picture 480 on red arrow before when it was in royal derby livery in 2015. I have definitely seen another picture of a solo on it before though, might be 491 but I can't remember.

Well that's me having a play with them on Monday or maybe even tomorrow if i get lucky! Will miss the Volvos but we may see a few return to help the swift route, but nothing confirmed.
Will definitely need two for the frequency uplift. Which two they are is anyone's guess
