Think including dividends, it was actually over £4m. Could it be related to Loughborough Coach and Bus or Barton's Leicester operation. A shareholding might well have stopped competition from that operator.. Wonder why it was sold at that time? Maybe they needed funds for new Enviros.
It was to do with Loughborough Bus and Coach. Trent sold their Loughborough depot for redevelopment and the ops to Leicester Citybus probably around 1988 - in return, they had a minority shareholding in LCB which was retained when Leicester City Council sold LCB to GRT Group. Nothing to do with Hornby.

Ten years later, TrentBarton bought KinchBus and restored their Loughborough presence.

I seem to remember this first came around when Hornby was in power, so likely just investing in shares, same was Wellglade owning shares in NET.
Wellglade own shares in NET because they were part of the winning consortium last time it was tendered.

Seems 740 is tracking at nottingham on SNX.

In other news seems like all the plaxtons coaches have been out today... Yes ok when i was leaving nottingham I saw 87 had broken down, and 85 had been off most of the day (came back and took over for 87)...but they still have all been out today. Seems like first time in a while the likelyhood of them all actually running for a full day is possible

It looks like the new Unibus timetables mean it can be run with just the 3 deckers interworking the U1 an U2. Could we see the 72 plate E200s cascaded within the group?

The current timetable with buses interworking is the study timetable, which is a reduced service compared to the term time service which resumes on Monday 27th.

I might be wrong, but I think the Unibus timetable, is the one for the study leave period, this week. When all the students are in, both the Enviro 200MMCs are used on the U2 AT PEAK, but only one between the peaks. Then two deckers work the U1 and stay on the U1, with extras at peak , certainly until about 09.30. Certainly no requirement to cascade.

At the moment we are doing better than what we were. I ust wonder how long that will last
Time will very much tell... depends on a lot of variables really. Wonder if it'll get any better/stay more consistent when the new Yutong coaches arrive and 314, 836 and 73 eventually return (the latter of which may not even be needed by the time it comes back at this rate).

Talking new yutong coaches, as this displaces the readarrow plaxtons is there any plans to keep to replace older coaches, and standardize the coach fleet with the B11RT plaxtons from redarrow as you could replace all TM and notts derby coaches which there's 9 of at the moment not including 2 irizar i4s with trent (73, 74) which won't be needed with new coaches, allowing to replace 76, 72, 67, 66, 65, 64, 63, 56, and 55
Edit: plus if trent wanted keep 2 coaches to replace 73, 74 which I don't see happening if they are getting a new dedicated spare yutong you could potentially have notts derby keep the 2 Volvo B11RT Plaxton Elite i as I'm not sure but I'll assume there's alot parts not too dissimilar to the Volvo B11RT Plaxton Elite from redarrow although I know the shapes are different

Considering how long they have waited for 73s new ramp, as well as repainting them i doubt they will get rid of them soon...As well with 66/67 being quite newly acquired i doubt they will go anytime soon.

I had heard that 55 and 56 were next to leave the fleet. I'd have thought the 80 to 88 batch of Volvos would be way over specification for the type of work Notts and Derby and TM Travel use them for. Think TM use theirs for swimming contracts. Existing vehicles might be more suitable, more reliable, better MPG etc.

Honestly with them being tri-axle I wouldn't be surprised if they were sold on

I'm told Mango Volvo 712, is being repainted (yep Mango livery) somewhere in Alfreton. Can't think where. I only remember the Volvo dealer that did the work on the then 08 plated Indigo Volvos.

Having imbibed in a pleasant pint in the Smithfield early this afternoon, as I left it was noticeable that four of the Red Arrow Volvos were stopped in and around Meadow Road (at least one of the Irizars out on the RA), and a Swift with a rather smashed up front end was being dragged away (for repair?) by a recovery truck.

Wonder if the Swift was 736 that hit something in Ashbourne? "Dancing on the ice".

Not sure (didn’t get chance to see the fleet number) but it was well bashed in the lower front and had a rather smashed kerbside front window.
