WMTrains livery and station branding

If you had to try and shoehorn either of the WMTrains liveries (a key feature of which being the fully coloured front with only the gangway door painted yellow) onto a class 139, you could use the central windscreen to define that yellow patch, the gist of which is shown by this quick and dirty mockup. That said, it's moved on a fair way from 172/0s which prompted the discussion (for which the technique I've described would be more difficult, given the lack of a single, central, windscreen)

That doesn't actually look as bad as I thought it might; though that might be down to the shape of the cab. I'm sure it would look much worse on a 150 with a flat front

Oh my gosh! Nice bit of photoshop but that livery makes it look even less like a train

I'm led to believe that these are the liveries that will be used, first one WMR, second one LNWR

Get one of those in the 325's to Bourneville and it will be the Cadbury Express

Only one of each I think.

I hope the /1s get an interior refurb before they paint them, they really are in a dire condition. All they need is new carpets, seat foams and seat covers, though - the rest is pretty solid, and they have generally been kept clean.

Are the Bedford-Bletchley services London NorthWestern or West Midlands Trains? I know the rolling stock on this route was shared with exclusively WMmservices too i.e. Stourbridge services.

I wonder if the stock for that is going to be kept seperate from WMT then, it tends to be Class 153s and 150s.
I'm not sure if they will get repainted anyway, as they're due to leave the franchise soon. A new logo vinyled on is probably all they'll get.
230s (D-Trains) are due to replace them on the Marston Vale line anyway; the ex-London Overground 172/0s are bound for the Leam-Cov-Nun corridor.

The launch unit for the West Midlands livery is 172339. I can't say that I'm much enamoured with the purple front end.

The centre car, 56339, carries promotional vinyls advertising visitor attractions in the West Midlands: Something that, AFAIK, hasn't really been seen on West Midlands area local trains since Central Trains days (excluding the 'Project 110' liveried 350).

The unit will be sitting there, at the north end of platform 2, until about half 12 if anyone local is inclined to have a look for themselves.

Yep, overall I do like that, but it's slightly overbranded - two of the diamond logos need to be removed so there is only one i.e. the big one, or remove the big one and keep the one by the text.

FWIW I don't know what it is about the window surround design of the later *Stars, but they *really* enhance the look of the units over the dated look of the ribbon glazing of earlier units.

Window band good of course :)

Interesting that the M of West Midlands Railway is like the Merseytravel M in actually being an upside down W.

Birmingham Snow Hill already has been, I was surprised to see: I suppose it makes sense if you're going to do the launch there. Others will no doubt follow in due course.

Dislike the orange doors, the rest of it isn’t too bad but overall I have to say it looks a bit like dogs vomit.

The LNR I’m unsure of so far. I think LM did very well in not overdoing the green, yet the new liveries just seem to go over the top with the branding and colours.

They're not my favourite liveries ever, but I prefer these (This and the LNR scheme) to the other primarily bland offerings that have been produced recently. The WMR livery certainly grabs the attention.

What a monstrosity. The only positive thing I can say is it shows how good the London Midland brand was.

Looks very smart in my opinion - far better than the initial concepts (especially that first one...!). Looking forward to seeing this in person, and indeed the London Northwestern railway one too!

As I thought they would be. The livery and branding is nice but the green and purple fronts are absolutely disgusting.

I like both, still need to get used to the lack of yellow ends which i think does add some needed punctuation to the design but we all need to move on...

Generally speaking I'm a fan of losing the yellow ends from an aesthetic point of view, I think the proposed TPE liveries look stunning, but sorry, I really don't like that livery on the 172. Are there any photos of a reliveried 350 in the flesh (as opposed to the concept render) yet?
