Wall collapses at York Railway Station - masonry scattered over exit
A WALL at York Railway Station has partially collapsed, scattering masonry over a cycle and pedestrian exit.
This explains why @D6700 and I were unable to exit this way this evening; we didn't actually get near it as we saw someone going the other way who said it was closed.A WALL at York Railway Station has partially collapsed, scattering masonry over a cycle and pedestrian exit.
Station operator LNER tweeted this evening that the wall at the pedestrian and cycle exit of the station's long stay car park had partially collapsed.
"This area will be closed off until the damage has been repaired," it said, urging people to bear this in mind if this was their usual way out of the station.
It was fine when I used that route just a few hours earlier. I am glad I am aware this evening as I can allow extra time to get my train tomorrow!
This entrance is really handy for access to the south/west of the station as it avoids the pointless bridge and a lengthy and often congested detour.
