The Admin team normally post on our Facebook page when RailUK is down, so am I allowed to post here and say that Facebook is down?

I wasn't even aware that RUK had a Facebook page!

Best thing I read was in the paper today, it said the terrible outcome of Facebook being down was that it "forced families to talk to each other at the dinner table".

COVID test result: negative. Thank the lord; may have been a bad cold or a chest infection I had.

Thanks sir, have largely recovered from what it was. :)
hi John,

Andy mentioned you, and remembering playing darts in the common room at Hermitage. I am afraid I cannot place you, the perils of growing older perhaps.
Pleased to be re-acquainted after all these years. Andy perhaps mentioned my varied railway career until retiring in 2020 just prior to lockdown.

What have you been up to?

Hi Alec. Sorry for the delay.

I was also known as 'Squeak' and played darts using ultra heavy darts with red feather flights which used to tear up the old cardboard boards we used.

Yes: Andy mentioned your railway career. Very interesting and rewarding I would think. Trust you're enjoying your retirement and keeping your Combined Volume busy :)

All the best

Very apt weather for today, the last day of summer.

It's summer til the 21st.

Depends on your opinion. Meteorological seasons are all 3 months long and follow the months.
G

Meteorologists never get the weather right, and they don't know when seasons start, it's best to ignore them. It's a pretend science like astrology, they have no clue unless everyone else already sees the storm. Nice weather today anyway, still more warm days ahead. :)
Side-effects of 2nd COVID vaccine shot so far: tiredness, aching arm (a given) and fever-like symptoms. I know eveyone reacts differently to it, but still.

Urgh....

Had it on the afternoon of the 30th August. Felt beyond rotten yesterday morning (migraine & nausea primarily), but am feeling a lot better this morning (migraine has subsided into a comparatively mild headache & I certainly don't feel like throwing up now).

Cheers BTW. :)

Great, yes this is not uncommon and you should feel a gradual improvement as the day goes on. The symptoms are due to your body reacting to a perceived threat and diverting resources to produce an immune response so it's nothing to worry about.

Glad you are feeling better :)

Yeah, I knew that's what it was at it's core and while it's of course nothing to worry about in the long run, it was still ruddy unpleasant lol Still got something of a aching arm, but that should fade in a couple days like it did with my first one.

Thanks once again for your concern. :)

"That side" - not a reference to The Inbetweeners, is it?

Think it's time the vast majority of the rail networks were electrified. In the next ten years there'll be a lot more electric cars, but with politicians in charge, the railways will be slow to expand the wires.
Hi Whiteway,
Thanks for your info regards 42560. Several of us around this area were wondering if something like you stated
had occurred to that Dart so not a great surprise. The years take their toll on buses just like ourselves of course.
Seems 42952 has been employed on various routes by Taunton depot these last few weeks.

Reading an alphabetically organised list of stations becomes incredibly unsatisfying down the middle, because you get a list of all the london terminals irritatingly interrupted by the two London Roads.

Not to mention that London station which isn't a London Terminal - London Fields.
