Shame about NSC but you can understand the frustrations. The former Avon CC authorities seem to have a big firm, big idea bias.

Interesting that Abus are taking on the Nailsea service in part; not a part of the world that they've generally inhabited

Perhaps Abus might arrange a deal with North Somerset Coaches to allow Abus to park some buses up in their depot rather than run them down from Bristol empty.

Disgusting how North Somerset Coaches have been treated since They do seem like a very good operator.

Anyway back to my previous post about the low floor decker which I have found out today has been repainted at Ravenhill depot. This is one of about 6-7 First Cymru will be getting from Bristol and Bath among others to replace the Northern Counties bodied Olympians and to provide additional capacity.

Not that far from Barton Hill to Nailsea so not really a problem.

W807EOW is ex Hampshire and Dorset, NOT Bristol and Avon. Sure they're coming from Bristol, or is it W807PAE and the reg has been misreported?

Perhaps the 4 x R-NHY Volvo Olyms might be heading to Cornwall to replace their former Bristolian colleagues (K-LAE batch)?

Yes I am aware that W807EOW is from Hampshire, I am just stating that the other 5 or 6 deckers will be coming from Bristol and Bath.

This information has come from a former collegue of mine when I was working for First Cymru and he is normally pretty much spot on

Interesting. Wonder if they'll be W-PAE batch. Surprised if they will have anything newer given that they're usually for schools. Why the need for extra capacity?

Oh no, yet more double deckers being sent away from Bristol to elsewhere again! Let's hope we get these (so called) additional double deckers sooner rather than later then.

Had a pleasant surprise of a journey over to Bedminster on an ALX 400 Volvo B7 on the 75 this afternoon. Looked lovely in the newer livery too. And had been refurbished with the grey leather seating throughout.

Not so pleasant back from Southville in the evening though. A crappy Enviro 200 on the 24 to the Centre, and then a sodding Eclipse on the 73!(working the 2035 Centre-Cribbs Causeway service) I had to make do with getting on this 73 on this occasion, as the next bus display thing on the adjacent 75/76 bus stop was showing the next bus as being a 75 which was 26 minutes away!! Couldn't be doing with waiting about that long! The timetable states there should be a 75 at 2036. Of course these next bus display things are not totally reliable anyway and a 75 could have been just a few minutes away, but I didn't want to risk waiting 26 minutes if the next bus display was in fact correct.

I finding accessing the next bus on my phone to be more reliable, which I don't quite understand as it is the should be the same system. Although I have known it to display different info

Think I saw the ALX400 in the new livery (32279) by The Haymarket yesterday. Was also on the 90 a couple of days ago. Think it's this one as this is a Hengrove based bus, not sure if there are more out.

These buses are just so unsuitable for such a route. In fairness, one of the 428xx (W 8xx PFE)'s was on the 24 yesterday and that was okay, but one of those tiny Enviros was on a peak departure and it was absolutely rammed to the rafters!

Oh dear!!!! I don't know what has been going on of late, but those Eclipses are appearing all the time on the 73. It is really quite strange.

Had a lovely journey yesterday (albeit only fifteen minutes) on this beauty, ex-London United VM1. It now operates with Wessex Red, caught it on the 14 from UWE to the centre. It has the same traction as the Firs B9 Geminis.

But the highlight of my day yesterday was a journey on brand spanking new Enviro 400 33826 (SN 63 MYJ) on the X1, admittedly only from Hotwells into the Bus Station. One word - WOW! What fantastic buses. They've got the leather seating, a really nice pink/purple interior and they smell so new! They are fab buses and I hope Bristol has more for it's city routes! There's not even a picture of it on Flickr yet because it's that new!

What app do you use, if you don't mind me asking? I've been looking for an app with live information as I find it more reliable. Would like one for Bristol buses.

Cardiff Bus have one on their (relatively) new app and to be fair to them it is spot on!!

Just be glad that First don't have the same view about 'deckers that Rotala do, or else you'd be crammed in all the time, or using hired in free coaches to meet demand!

From First Bristol. The second point is about big gaps in the morning service on the 1 and 2.

"Next changes to Service 75/76 are roughly planned for mid 2014.

We are aware that there are some big gaps in the timetable and this should be resolved with the next Service 1 and Service 2 revision."

What looked to be former a First Capital ALX400/Trident ,LK53EZx, was noted parked up at Taunton this afternoon, possibly the first of their SLF deckers, or possibly on the way further south west?

Interesting.... ex Glasgow machine apparently. Bit modern for Somerset!

Cue conspiracy theory..... 5/6 deckers leaving Bristol... 32355-60 arriving imminently at Lawrence Hill?

As it happens I hear Southampton are due the former Zip Volvo B7RLEs from Portsmouth, replacing deckers on route 3. There's a possibly more of the WxxxEOW batch could follow to Cymru.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Also, the results of the Bristol fare consultation *should* be revealed first thing this morning. It'll be interesting to see the results!

First Bus Fares in Bristol are changing and for many people will go DOWN!
http://www.bristol247.com/2013/10/03/first-bus-fares-slashed-young-passenger-campaign-53331/

And I am further amazed as this is everything I suggested to them in the consultation.

They have already ^^

At a glance the new fares apply from 3rd November

There is no mention of Ten journey fares but looks like they might be scrapped too
Zone 1 and 2 will become Inner Zone and looks like it might be extended slightly to cover a few areas which are currently in Zone 3
Zone 3 will come the Outer Zone
Return Tickets have been scrapped!
30% reduced fares for 16-21 year olds
50% reduced for under 16's

In the Inner Zone:
Three Stop Hop is here to stay
A single up to 3 Miles will cost £1.50
A single up to 6 Miles will cost £2.50
A single above 6 Miles will cost £3.50

Day Rider in Inner will remain at £4 (But as the zone is being enlarged slightly people will benefit)
Day Rider in Outer will remain £6
Inner Zone Night Rider has gone up 10p to £3

Week Rider in Inner will now be reduced to £17 (Unless you bought a single zone 1 or 2 ticket in which case it has gone up)
Week Rider for Inner and Outer remains £22

Month Inner will remain at £68 (Unless you bought a single zone 1 or 2 ticket in which case it has gone up)
Month Inner and Outer £80 which is a £4 reduction

Yearly Inner £650 down from £800 (Unless you bought a single zone which means it has gone up)
Yearly Inner and Outer £840 (Unsure of current price for this)

So many winners from this okay some people will loose out but on the whole BIG improvements, and I think we can say well done First!

Glad to see the consultation has produced results like this. What I can't help wondering is how passengers and the operator will be sure that the correct fare is issued.

Good news. I guess this means fares from places like St George, Clifton, and Horfield are £1.50. Shame it took so long to get here. I gave up on Bristol buses years ago due to high fares and if I'm about will consider them now. Nice round figures so change less of an issue. I remember a few years back when a short trip would cost about £1.95.

WOW!! This is fantastic!!

Although the only confusing thing is the single ticket up to three or six miles. How do we know how far our destination is?!

This registration is bus 33345 which is based at First Glasgow's Parkhead Depot and has blue SimpliCITY branding. AFAIK it's still at Parkhead, what livery was the bus in? I suspect it's one of the TNAs 33377-33382 which have just finished at Dagenham and are rumoured to be for Bristol or Somerset.

Sorry, should have made that clear, the small x was to indicate I wasn't sure on the last letter. It turns out it was LK53EZB anyway, fully reprinted and single doored.

That would be 33382 then, good stuff. I know a few were released early from Dagenham, so I assume all 6 (33377-33382) will join the South West fleets, maybe all six will go to Taunton.
Thanks for the info.

Just looked up those buses on Flickr. And interesting to note they are dual door buses! Be good to see these buses on First services in Bristol, especially if they retain and use the middle door exits to speed up loading/unloading times! Especially useful on cross-city services like the 1,2, 75, and 76! I expect though it's highly likely First Bristol will take the doors out, as they did with the recent batch of ex-London Gemini's. Regardless of whether the middle door is kept or not, would be good to see these in Bristol. Let's hope it actually happens!

Yes Dan, they look great these buses! Have seen it on the 3 and 12. Not had a ride on it yet though.

The one in Taunton has already had the middle door removed by all accounts.

Cornwall Ferries Ltd T/A Fal River Buses have taken over operation of the Truro City Services now First have withdrawn from the route. They are using Plaxton Primo MX55WDA, plus A.N.Other, currently being covered by one of the Falmouth Park and Ride deckers, but I'd expect a solo sized single decker will be appropriate size, and the Falmouth P+R deckers are only spare until April/ May when the P+R starts up again.

Does that mean that after making staff redundant in the earlier changes, they're increasing the depot compliment?

What do they currently use on the 112? Is it the ex Bath P&R B7s? Odd that these 102/112s are being changed and transferred from First Bristol and Avon to First D, C and Somerset!

They use the volvo Olympians often and the Volvo B7 single deckers. Sometimes 32001 the only PAE left at Weston.
