Cupid Stunt springs to mind for some reason......

Cupid? Well when people put on here a few days after their application went in if there's any updates, when it clearly says on the application to wait for further communication if successful!

Some people have obviously just enquired to see if anyone has received a letter as it clearly means a lot to some - your comment was pointless. I am not one of those btw as I knew that nothing has been sent yet but can understand why people do it.

So can I mate, my comment wasn't meant disrespectfully but IMO some are OTT with it. Yes I'm excited to but reading it all the time is a tad annoying.

You could just not read then??

This means a lot to some, hopefully everyone who applies. Additional stress is unnecessary as during the whole process especially during the tests it gets to people. The wait to see if you make the sift can be a long painful wait.

But hey ho everyone is entitled to their choice of humour. Just not my choice.

Lot of applications in again as per the last time they were advertised. However, I've also been told that a new training school started on Monday, which means there are 8 new drivers due to pass out and another 8 just starting the training.

I don't see how this has any bearings on the current application process. The vacancies are for February 2015 on wards so by then any training schools would be coming to an end. I am sure this was all taken into account by the powers to be at DB Tyne & Wear.

Plenty of vacancies over the next couple of years, already a shortage and retirements/reducing of hours etc.

Only issue will be the number of new trainees taken on with the current intake process - again this may mean that there will be a number of people put into a holding pool, rather than straight into training. The last round of applications has meant that there are now at least an additional 32 drivers on the roster.

There was a resource issue earlier on this month according to the posters on the platforms, but I've been told this is more due to staff on holiday leave rather than an actual lack of drivers. However there still will be a number retiring soon so hard to tell.

Just out of interest are you employed within DB Tyne & Wear and where your sources are sourced from. I only ask this because I have been hearing conflicting information to what is being put on not just this forum but others also.

Hi, so are you saying this latest advertised vacancies is a bit of a waste of time because they already have the staff to fill the positions?

It's not a waste of time - plenty of jobs coming up! First training starts in February as it says In the application.

One day left not looking good here

They've had loads of applications - I don't think anyone is going to hear by tomorrow! Just because it says if you've hadn't heard by the end of September to presume you're unsuccessful doesn't mean a letter can't come through your door in October.

Yep, it's only been 3 weeks last Friday since the closing date, not much time at all to go through the large number of applications they'll have received. Don't hold your breath :D
