yeah applied in march took the enhanced assessment in september and now just waiting for a dmi since, and tbh im not expecting a call anytime soon lol
spoke with HR a few times who have been really good and always communicate very quickly. they say as soon as they have a date they will be in touch. i am also in other talent pools so just a waiting game and never giving up process for me.

Can't say I'm surprised to be honest but you you always hope it might be quicker. :) Well good luck. Hopefully it won't be too much longer for yourself and others to start hearing back.

I have my own thoughts in the prioritisation and why some have heard back when others haven't in light of applications being submitted on same date as others that have already heard. Could be something to do with the advert highlighting positively seeking females and BAME candI dates, and maybe there is a filter selecting these candidates first.....Either that or those that have already heard submitted stonkingly amazing applications. Just my thoughts, not based on any inside knowledge

White, straight, middle aged male here. My application was as good as I could make it but I'd imagine anyone who actually wants the job is doing that.

Was invited to take online (GTR-1) assessment in the last week.

That's good to hear then.....I got through to DMI stage Jan last year so my assessment passes etc are still valid. Time will tell

Ive got a big feeling the word count is a part of it. If you got 10k applicants and 7k only typed 500 words out of the 2500 then its a no brainer. Someone who has wrote more words usually take more time on the application and are thinking about their answers.

I wrote a minimum of 1000/2500.

I could be wrong but i think its a quick way to eliminate a large percentage of applicants.
I don't think sheer number of words says anything about how much time you've spent on it or how hard you've thought about it.

A friend in the industry told me that communication on the railway should be ABC: Accurate. Brief. Clear.

Some boxes on my application were literally 20 words and I made it through first sift.

Many factors are used in the sift as they need to cut the numbers down to manageable levels, one I was told of by a friend in HR was if you made a spelling mistake in your CV you were binned !

Driver!

cant see any reason why he’d lie, but nothing to say the info he heard is wrong, sounds extreme to me also!

To add, I’m yet to hear from GN and TL!

As a GN driver myself, I’ve heard a few figures thrown around, however nothing that high! It could be plausible though in this current climate...

Yes from souther and thameslink. A no from northern (pretty sure it was the distance as same application for all) good luck to all :)

Mine was a yes from TL and a no from southern. I live 5 mins from the southern depot compared to 25 from the one that was a yes! Both same application answers so I'm baffled but not complaining

I just got mine too, invited to online miniSCAAT.
Best of luck ☺️

Still waiting to hear from either one at the moment! I know someone who phoned HR and was told that they where still getting through tons of applications... Could be a long road ahead!

That’s my theory out the window. Either way I’m delighted to try for Southern and Thames link :)

Hey everybody
I received the GTR-1 SJT test email today. I was wondering if anyone could give any clues about the format of the test? Went through some threads but I didn't manage to find something definitive.

Any help is much appreciated

This is what I found on another thread :

"The first part is questions about the type of person you are. The options are strongly agree, agree and so on. Then there is 6 situational judgement questions which you rank which is the best answer and least effective answer. There is a few questions on the company which you answer true or false."

Does anyone know any TOC that are taking on applications for trainee train drivers at the moment?
Follow this link, go to each website of the TOCs that operate in your area and check the careers page. Bookmark those pages as you need to do this daily, maybe even multiple times a day. Good luck ! ;)
