Channel 4 have won the rights to show England’s series in India in a groundbreaking deal that means Test cricket will return to terrestrial television in the UK for the first time since the 2005 Ashes.
The Guardian understands that global rights holders Star Sports and Channel 4 have agreed a contract for the live broadcast of the entire tour – four Tests, five Twenty20s and three one-day internationals – with an announcement due soon before the first Test in Chennai on Friday.
Cricket's coming back to terrestrial tv. About time too.

Is it confirmed? last i saw C4 were saying the contract wasn't signed and sealed.
I had an email from NowTV (ie Sky) apologising for advertising the India and England test series as they don't have the rights to it.It's allegedly 99% in the bag but I won't truly believe until we see an actual C4 press release. Fingers crossed that'll be later today.

Perfect timing for C4 with people stuck at home, either not working, "working from home" or educating children!

The cricket is on Talk Sport 2.I don't seem able to find TMS. What's going on? Is it back on LW?
It's the MRTS, Chepauk station is the one next to the stadium.Great to watch test cricket on terrestrial TV again - the first since 2005, I think, and a fine start by Joe Root. As this is a railway forum, anyone watching today will have seen the elevated railway or metro passing the ground in Chennai, with a station serving it and another nearby. One of the commentators referred to it as the monorail. I've never been to India but looked on line and I see that there are several systems - Chennai Suburban Railway, MRTS (Mass Rapid Transit) and Metro. Monorail looks like a long-term proposal not yet in operation. Anyone know more?
Whilst the coverage was a bit more basic than what you get with Sky, it certainly was nice to see it on a normal channel. Apparently it's the first time ever a complete England overseas series has been (or is being) shown on terrestrial TV. So hopefully good viewing number will encourage further bids in the future.
Thanks a lotThe cricket is on Talk Sport 2.
