I’ve also linked to the story in the local paper, over in the infrastructure thread here:Reopening delayed by about 6 weeks due to difficulties working under COVID restrictions, won’t reopen until May according to a tweet by @PaulCliftonBBC
A recent news article I saw quoting Adrian Shooter mentioned that some third rail testing was being done at Derby, presumably that would be the relatively short Bombardier te
The sighting on the M42 could be going to DerbyJust saw class 484 on the M42 in Birmingham heading in the north direction basically opposite to Isle of Wight not sure where it was going didn't get number or picture as was driving and caught me off guard.
That destination shown is the Arriva depot, not the works.I believe 003 is already at Eastleigh, so this is could be 004? I've seen reports also that a unit is to be hauled from the east yard into the works today, possibly by class 20s :

Sure. And all the route learning has been running to/ from the TRSMD as well.however a previous unit has done a similar journey

I believe so, someone on FB photted 003 in east yard on Mar 1stDoes this mean three units are at Eastleigh with 001 on the Island?
And if they aren't ready? At this rate IF no issues during the mainline shakedown mileage accumulation four if not all five sets could be available by the time the line is ready. Again a big IF but it would be a first for Vivarail. Of course not having diesel power packs eliminates a lot of risks.
But they need to sort out ryde tunnel because it is too low for the 484’sThey managed to run the line (sort of) using just one serviceable 483 at the end of last year, so I suppose they could use the one 484 that's already on the island.
Not this again. But they need to sort out ryde tunnel because it is too low for the 484’s
No but this is true- the project is delayed to COVID and this, it has been confirmed by numerous sourcesNot this again.
It has already been said a number of times in this thread, that the 484's will fit though the tunnel.
Do you have any links to substantive proof that they do not fit? This has come up time and time again on here.No but this is true- the project is delayed to COVID and this, it has been confirmed by numerous sources

‘Unforeseen challenges’ and Covid are cited as reasons for delaying the reopening of the Isle of Wight’s train line. While they’re waiting, they’ll take the opportunity to repaint the stationsonthewight.com
I can’t see anything about trains not fitting in Ryde Tunnel. They just repeat what we know: reopening is delayed and that Covid is either the sole reason or a major part of it. I go through Esplanade two to three times a week and have yet to see large numbers of orange-clad people scratching their heads at the tunnel mouth.Covid: Isle of Wight rail overhaul delayed by pandemic

It was linked in post #973 in January...Didn't someone on swr's twitter say it turns out they won't fit, so work will now be carried out to rectify it?
I suspect they may have been talking the brown stuff, but if so that's a bit unprofessional for a customer facing portal to be dishing out misinformation like that.
