No (and quite some way out!)1348? +/-?
No, but much closer than @LSWR Cavalier.1580?
Sorry, no, but a lot closer than your first attempt.1540?
Still no, but you are getting nearer.1600?
All your answers are correct but some have been guessed before you I'm afraid.
Sorry I didn't realise that's what you had done, I thought you were attempting to answer all the clues in one go.I was just summarising the answers given by everyone so far- they weren't all mine
That's close enough. Correct answer is (Autumn) 1576.I remember reading about this some years ago, it got taken down about 25 years after being built around 1600 so I would hazard a guess it was built around 1575 give or take a year.
1587; Fotheringhay Castle, Northamptonshire; her fellow-monarch Elizabeth Ist, of whom Mary had been a guest / prisoner for many years -- which she spent endlessly intriguing against Elizabeth, whose patience finally ran out.Thank you.
These questions all require at least more than one answer to each please :
In which year was Mary Queen of Scots beheaded ? Where did this happen ? and on whose orders please ?
Spot on with all 3 parts correct.1587; Fotheringhay Castle, Northamptonshire; her fellow-monarch Elizabeth Ist, of whom Mary had been a guest / prisoner for many years -- which she spent endlessly intriguing against Elizabeth, whose patience finally ran out.
Spot on with correct answers, do you where in Ireland he was kidnapped please ?Shergar - 1983, from a stud farm in Ireland.
Your guesses are not correct I'm afraid, though you're not far away from the year.Cheques: 1680; Payable to Cashier at Bank of England; £100 (All guesses )
Spot on with correct answers, do you where in Ireland he was kidnapped please ?
Absolutely spot on.No, but I’d guess at somewhere in or near County Kildare as that’s the centre of the Irish horse racing industry
With almost 48 hours having elapsed since the last post, is it time now to google the answer for the still outstanding part(s) of @444045 's random combination of questions?
Me too. The "Who was the name of the person who made it out?") part of the middle question regarding the first British cheque is fairly unguessable, IMHO.I already have, but have not submitted the answer.
Sorry not correct.John Smith?
Mr Delboe on 16 Feb 1659, although in those days, the year began on 25 March (I didn't know that either!), so it is really 16 Feb 1660. The amount was £400 (=£76,000 today). Source: https://moneyweek.com/426390/16-february-1659-the-first-british-cheque-is-issued.Sorry for the delay, yes one question to answer about the 1st cheque. Please submit your answers and see if they match.
Surely the correct answer to the question as posed by @444045 is Merchant Nicholas Vanacker?
