The tree chopper was active in Devoran this afternoon. Strangely on a road that First do not use.View attachment 99796
First Regularly go down to the school,

Remember just because it’s not an advertised service route, there is a lot of private contract work that goes places that you wouldn’t know just by looking at public timetables

It would still be allowed on an except for access to serve places like the Maritime museum end of town.
You can get to the Maritime Museum without going through the pedestrianised part. It would force the Coaster to be rerouted, but that would be the whole point.

Anyway, let's hope it doesn't come to that.

There is no change. The traffic regulation order has not changed. We’re not aware of any desire by Cornwall Council to change it.

This is Cornwall council. We know how difficult they can be
No it’s not. Cornwall Council has not changed the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) in relation to buses and has not indicated that it wishes to. This is Falmouth Town Council, which is not the highway authority.

I must say it was nice to see people enjoying the open top L1 today, with the two open top Geminis looking very nice.

This did cause the 34 to be empty most of the day.

Latest withdrawals are 30565 and 32015 whom have departed today along with already withdrawn 32076 heading for Ensign. 32015 has been a regular in service up to at least Friday not sure about yesterday. Not many Volvo B7TL ALX400s left now apart from the loaned ones.

30565 had been parked up at Camborne for several days, not sure when it last operated.
Separately up in Somerset ex Kernow Dart 42560 is reported as withdrawn at Bridgwater, I don't know the reason for this.

Chassis defect on the Dart.

Given that a fair number of repaints have been going around for a good while without vinyls I'm wondering, is there a problem with vinyl supply and fitting?

I feel the problem is likely to be less with supply and fitting and more with the high level of staff isolating meaning important vehicle repairs take priority over vinyls. Also the issues previously discussed with the lack of supply when it comes to spare parts to repair vehicles has led to more vehicles off road, meaning the un-vinyled vehicles are required to operate instead of sit in the garage.

No there’s no problem. It’s a backlog. Painting and vinyls don’t work on the same timescale. The vinyl workshop has been busy with non vehicle work too
Thanks.

Looks like a full house of open toppers in service in Cornwall today. Good stuff.

Are there any plans for 32350/59? Correct me if I'm wrong but were they drafted in as school extras and if so once they finish their duties will they be used to fill in for any backfired tridents?

You’re wrong! They were always permanent additions and will be painted in the next few months

Does anyone know will the new Lizard vehicles receive updated vinyls, such as the rear Lizard route map on the back like the new open toppers?

I had a ride on the Land’s End Coaster today

I have to say those Presidents are certainly not having a relaxing semi retirement in the West Country and are still subject to quite punishing work

Some of the hills are quite gruelling and even more so carrying a full load and in a heatwave, and that’s not to mention when you have to stop half way up to let a car squeeze past and then get going again.

It was also nice to see First South West put on a full complement of open toppers today

Also despite being shown as a Penzance to Penzance service, is it basically a continuous circular, as the bus I caught in Penzance already had a decent inbound load that stayed on board?

@On the Buses will the ELCs in the old Lizard livery stay on the Lizard network once the newly painted vehicles are done and will they go off to get the new livery themselves or will they go onto other services? Many thanks

Yes I've noticed that as well.

There were very good loadings through Penzance today. The M6 was also busy.

Are you saying that passengers are being carried across Penzance on the same bus (though presumably with a change of driver)? If so, I think that might be a first in local open top history, though happy to be corrected.

It’s perfectly normal practice for circular open tops all over the U.K. to carry passengers through.
